Interaction with Guests
If guests desire it they can be met and given advice about the local area. Otherwise we are at the other end of the phone.
The cottage is located in a beautiful, secluded part of the West of Ireland but we are lucky to have some local amenities. The front garden runs down to a clean and safe beach suitable for swimming, water sports and walking. The Beach Bar is a 3 min walk from the house and you will find food, traditional music and a great atmosphere. There is also a tiny campsite beside the house that caters mostly to small groups and families. Very nearby are some great surfing spots, Easkey and Stranhill being the most famous. We are also close to the Ox Mountains, a stunning location for cycling and walking.
Sligo town is about a 30 min drive from the house and guests will find a wide variety of activities and places to eat there.
A little further in North Sligo guests can visit Yeats grave and see the stunning landscape that inspired much of Yeats' work.
Unfortunately there is no public transport so guests would have to have/rent a car. Walkers or cyclist are also welcome.
Other Things to Note
Guests should note some things -
The road leading to the house is quite rough and requires careful driving if guests wish to drive right up to the house. Otherwise guests can park in the local pub and walk to the house (3 min walk)
The water in the house is not suitable for drinking, but is perfectly safe to cook and wash with.
Kate was super responsive, and made it very easy for us to get to the listing and start enjoying it as soon as possible. The location is unbeatable, and having a tea in the morning looking at the sea through the window made us not want to leave the listing. The pizza oven and the internet are not currently operational, so please check with Kate before booking. We'll be back!
Kate was a fantastic host and made our weekend very easy and laid back.
Her cottage is in the most amazing location with breathtaking views up the Sligo coast. The cottage itself is very comfortable, really nicely decorated and has everything you might need for a great week/weekend away. The pub two minutes away is great as well.
The house was exactly as described and the surrounding area was beautiful.
Fantastic host. Fantastic home. Beautiful location and brilliant Beach Bar! Loved it.
This is a little gem of a house in a really lovely remote location. If only every Airbnb house/location was as good as this!
Right on the beach, the photos represent the house exactly as it is and the description is exactly how you find the house.
We didn't get to meet Kate but she could not have been more helpful and she has clearly made the effort to set the house up well for her guests.
We stayed over a cold but dry March weekend and we had the fire roaring each night. It was great to have the Beach Bar just across the field and this was a great place to end our long walks each day.
Our kids loved the freedom of pottering around the house and going up & down to the beach.
Over the winter months I'd highly recommend this as a long-weekend destination and for longer stays over the summer when you can enjoy the sea properly.
We stayed here in February so not the warmest time of year and off peak. But Kate was an excellent host and was very honest about the cottage and went out of her way to make sure it was clean, tidy, warmed up and very welcoming. The house it's self was in a great setting with everything you'd need on a weekend away (or longer!)and the comfy sofa in the front room sits facing the front of the amazing view out to sea. There's a lovely double wood stove to make a warm fire in the evening and am pizza oven out the back which would have been perfect for the summer. We were more than happy with this cottage in an idyllic setting with the best pub in Sligo less than one minute walk away. Her DVD collection was perfect for our weekend away. There are local conveniences not too far away and Strandhill and Sligo are also worth a visit. Already have recommended and would love to come back ourselves.
