Boston house and hotel is very expensive, so please don't expect condition like hotel with this price. But we provide all the basic living condition and have kitchen available. If you look for your honey moon stay, please keep this place away :) :)
It was a terrible stay, I emailed Rex our arrival time a few days before, only to find the bed undone and room messy from the earlier occupier on our arrival! We also emailed and called the number a few times on the day but the number was out of reach.
We ended up making bed ourselves using bedsheets (thank god they are clean!) found in the laundry room. Bedroom seems dirty too and I left without having a shower!
Will definitely not recommend this place for anyone wishing to stay in a clean and organised place.
The host is super friendly and really wants to make your stay the best he can. I really appreciate that. The house was renovating a bit and we slept on an air mattress and didn't have the internet but it's considerable. He brought a real mattress later but we didn't want to bother him changing everythig. The house was like a minute from the subway to the heart of Boston. It takes maybe 5 minutes to the airport and additional 10-15min to the downtown which is really convinient and fast!
The landlord is extremely friendly and the room/bathroom/kitchen is pretty clean. The BnB is really easy to get to once you get off of the T. The wifi was pretty strong and I'm really glad that the room had air-conditioning. My only thing was that the bed was uncomfortable, definitely could feel every spring, but other than that, it was pretty great.
We did research on a bunch of places in the Boston area. Never having been to the area we were not sure how far away things were, but we were on a budget so this place looked like it would be a good fit. Our overall experience was good. It was a place to crash as we didn't spend much time there, we were in Boston pretty much all day everyday during our stay. I wouldn't say we have anything negative to say but more would like people to have an accurate description of everything.
Rex is quick to communicate.
Locking bedroom door
Very close to the Wonderland T station
Kitchen available for storing food
Things you should know:
English is not Rex's first language, so sometimes directions can be hard to understand
Rooms are tiny, not much space for anything beyond your bag and the bed
On your way to the kitchen there is a large pile of garbage and other things, that was never removed in our 3 days there.
The kitchen is not fully functional, there are not proper utensils for cooking and the host prefers you use everything disposable.
The downstairs bathroom appears not to be to code or very clean and the water pressure is low
All in all it was fine as a place to crash, but you should know it is somewhat like staying in a hostel.
We would stay here again for a quick overnight or if we had meetings in the area and knew we wouldn't be spending much time in the room.
The room was really good. Rex was extremely helpful. We were first given the room on the first floor but because it was really hot down there, Rex moved us to the room with an air conditioner with no extra charge. Everything was very clean. The location is perfect as it is very close to the train station.
Rex is a very nice person, he is very helpful with everything. However, the place I booked wasn't the place I was directed to. I got an email from Rex saying that the address is different. When I checked later the website where Rex has pictures of all places that he rents, both locations appeared. The difference was that a place where I ended up sleeping was very filthy and dirty. Bathroom looked fine but as for the kitchen I was afraid to use anything.
I came to Boston to visit my fiancee' & needed an inexpensive place to stay for my 10 day visit, this placed served my purpose. The location is convenient for access to the city via the T & Revere Beach is within walking distance. I drove a vehicle, so I needed parking which was available. Rex was a good host, although I never actually met him. I was generally able to reach him when needed. He worked through a couple of snags at the beginning of my stay & the rest of my visit was uneventful.
Pros: Quiet neighborhood, easy access to public transportation, makes you appreciate your own home.
Cons: Very austere accomodations, the place is just old & worn out. The state of cleanliness warrants use of flip flops & your own sheets/pillow. The rooms are not air conditioned, ventilation is poor. The bathroom door locks, but it is not secure. In my opinion, the place is a bit pricy for what you get, but Boston is an expensive city. Be specific about what room you get as the sizes vary considerably from really small to comfortable.
Misc: I did not access the internet, but it was available via Wi-Fi. The other tenants were quiet & pleasant. I did not use the kitchen although other tentants did, nor did I eat in the local area, so I can't comment on those items.
Bottom line: The place is as advertised. Rex was a good host. Overall, I would say this place is best described as a crash pad to be used for very short solo stays. I would not recommend staying here as a couple, just not a pleasant arrangement.
This is not a glowing review but it is an honest one. I doubt I'll return in the future, but I feel I was treated fairly by Rex. There are just too many other offerings out there until the place is renovated.
Very close to the Logan International Airport!
Perfect for one night in Boston
