About This Listing
Located in the heart of Wicker Park (all of the best restaurants, shopping, and bars), this awesome clean hip apartment has everything you'd want for your stay in Chicago. It's got wifi, wide open space, the cutest kitchen ever, a back deck. Tons of street parking, and conveniently 2 blocks from the Damen Blue Line CTA station (a 24hr train line...you can stay out late).
This area of the city is called Wicker Park and its home to some of the most creative and interesting people, shops, restaurants and culture in Chicago. If you're a hipster, then this your place for sure!
We have nice fans to keep you cool this summer, and clean sheets to keep you nice and dry.
Between hosting on AirBnb and (website hidden), I've had hundreds of guests and I have a passion for meeting fun new people.
Plus, I know a thing or two about this city so I can help you with whatever you want to know!
If you are going to smoke, there is a nice porch where you can do so.
Otherwise, just be respectful of the neighbors!
I never stated at his place. Never moved in. About a week before my family was to move in, i had explained an emergency family health situation to him via text messaging, even tried calling him, with the phone number he left on airbnb, but he blatantly ignored my texts, and I never got a call back , I got no response from him. I won't be staying here again, or recommend anyone staying here. Secondly, I think his cancellation policy is very silly, from the point you make a reservation you are only allowed 50% of your money back if any emergency pops up. 5 days before moving in you are allowed 0% refunds. I had booked things in advance, and health conditions are unpredictable, I think as a host, one should be understanding to certain life (email hidden)netheless, I would not recommend this place. If a host cant communicate effectively, why are you hosting in the first place?
It's really unfortunate that I did not receive any of Carmen's messages. I wonder if there was something wrong with the compatibility of our phones? Airbnb reccomends that communication be mostly done through the website to ensure an accurate written record for both parties. She did not message me through airbnb. I even sent several updates via airbnb as her stay was approaching, and did not receive a reply. I'm so sorry we weren't able to communicate, but I can't help but wonder if Carmen's inexperience with Airbnb contributed to the problem.
As far as the cancellation policy goes, it was clearly stated on the listing prior to reserving. When a guest books a place, we are forced by Airbnb to block off the calendar. It is very hard to get a new booking in place at the very last minute, which is why the policy is in place.
The WORST experience ever! We arrived at 11.30 pm, we didn't have any contact with the owner when we arrived and also the day after. The house wasn't like the pictures, they are really fancy, but the house is dirty, old and stink!
When we arrived the heaters where at the maximum, we try to turn them down, but wasn't impossible, so we sleep with open windows!
The bed was really dirty with hair and blood stain!!!!!!!! I think that nobody washed it! We tought to change the apartment because it was really a nightmare but all the hotel were really expensive and I would lost my money, that's why we decide to continue to stay in this apartment for the rest of the week.
There was not Internet inside the home like the owner said, and to speak with him I needed to go out and write to him, because he didn't answer to the phone. The only contact with him was Airbnb!
The second day, we spent our first day in Chicago fixing all the problem we had in the apartment! A girl came to clean the apartment and to change the sheets, and a plumber to fix the smell of steam that come out of the old old old heaters. We lost our first day of holiday to do his work! Jeremy wants just to take your money, and he doesn't care about you, your holiday, your happiness. I didn't fix Internet the all week!!! We needed it to organize our tour day by day, that's way we spent 50$ to buy a card! Just an advice: CHOOSE ANOTHER FLAT!!!!!!!!
Vera was a terrible guest with unreasonable expectations. My place is a 2 bedroom apartment for less than $100 a night, and she acted like she had booked the Waldorf Astoria.
The sheets had a small stain, and when she complained, I bought brand new sheets.
Comcast had an internet outage. I called. They said it would be fixed. They did not say when. There was nothing more I could do.
The building has one boiler for the whole building. If the heat is too high, yes, you open the windows. And, yes, steam boilers do produce steam. I literally had to send a plumber to explain how a steam radiant heating system works.
Overall my experience in Jeremy's flat was good! When I arrived the flat wasn't enough clean to host new guests , but when I contacted Jeremy he put a lot of effort to fix everything. the flat is quite big, some of the furniture are different than in the photos, the bathroom and appliances are quite old, nonetheless if you don't need too much comfort it is a nice flat. What make the flat very good is the location! Wicker park is fantastic, a lot of green areas, nice and quite streets and amazing bar and restaurants!
I stayed at Jeremy's place for a total of 10 weeks. He was an awesome host - it never took more than a day to get back to us. There were some things that needed to be fixed in the apartment but as soon as we brought it up to Jeremy, he resolved the issues ASAP.
I'd say that the pictures are not representative of the apartment - the furniture has definitely gone through some wear and tear but there's no better location for young professionals.
Overall, I had a great experience with Jeremy!
So Jeremy was really good about communication, check-in and check-out were a breeze, and the neighbourhood was AMAZING. After spending a few days in Chicago, there was no area I would have rather stayed in. That being said, the apartment was a little bit more no-frills than we were hoping. It was large and clean, but we had to fix the tub which wasn't draining (which Jeremy compensated us for), and not all the rooms had working lightbulbs when we arrived. And especially in the back room it was kinda noisy because the upstairs neighbours were hanging on the back porch at night, so it's probably not the kind of place I'd want to stay in long-term.
