The space

This newly constructed 4 bedroom, 2400 square foot ( 220 square meter ) modern Pacific Coast style home is a Puerto Escondido landmark. As you arrive into town from the south, the first house on the left is this artfully designed home, back dropped by a clear view of the entire bay .

All bedrooms have decks overlooking the ocean. Four bedrooms have queen size beds and one has bunk beds. It's artfully designed and much more beautiful and spacious than photos or words can describe.

We have a cleaner twice per week and a groundskeeper who will look after your every other need.

The following extras are available upon request and at an additional cost, to be discussed at the time of reservation: Air Conditioning, daily fresh breakfasts, daily cleaning, grocery shopping, private driver, doorman.

The home is perched on a breezy hill at "La Punta" with 360 degrees views of Puerto Escondido and the surrounding Sierra Madre peaks that border it to the northeast. The beach and multiple restaurants are a 5 minute walk away. The house is right by the main road into town so taxis and colectivos are readily available. Casa Del Cielo' or 'Heaven's House' , enjoys magnificent views from every room, and indoor / outdoor living with plenty of shaded decks and veranda. Enter the grounds through bamboo gates into a lush edible garden. People call the house, "la casa de los detalles" because everywhere you turn, you'll see a new interestingly decorated space.

I lived in Puerto Escondido Mexico for 8 years and moved back to Toronto about 1 year ago to pursue my aspiration to run a contemporary furniture company. Now I'm back and forth between Mexico, Toronto and a few other spots in between.

DIRECTIONS ENGLISH: Street: Calle DF s.n., at Justo Salvador. Neighborhood: Brisas de Zicatela “La Punta”. 1 entrance south of the 2nd entrance to the punta. The street you turn on is called “Justo Salvador”. It is about ½ a kilometer north of the Pemex and 1 kilometer south of the first and primary entrance to the point. On the ocean side of the highway you will see a small white house which is the "centro de saldud". Your home is a 1/4 block from this house, towards the beach. It is a blue house with red trim and a large thatched roof – you have seen the pictures.
Standard house rental rate is for 10 people. Up to six more guests are welcome but must be approved and will in most cases incur an added fee
If more than fourteen guests, we may also be able to provide space in our guest house. Pets must be approved and will incur a pet fee and cleaning deposit
Animals are not allowed in the beds or on the sofa.
There is a fish / veggie market in town: Mercado Benito Juarez. Any taxi will be able to drive there with their eyes closed. You can go to Super Che for supermarket stuff
There is a small but efficient tienda (shop) called Rubi about 500 meters north of the house on the main road
the tiny ants are hard to avoid but please keep kitchen spotless or they will bring more friends to the fiesta
Be careful that the wind doesn’t blow out the stove flame
Wash all dishes immediately after using them (remember, you are living in the tropics and we don’t want pests)
Separate compostable materials (fruit and veg – no meet) and dump in the compost
Compostables and garbage go under the sink
Jorge or the cleaner will take out the garbage but if it needs to go ahorita then put it in the larger bins behind the house.
You will find some spices in the kitchen and some in the fridge as well. I have made the assumption that you would prefer access to these rather than a perfectly cleaned out fridge.
You can get new water jugs at the convenience store (tienda) around the corner from the house or leave a jug with 15 pesos for Jorge to refill it
Jorge will take out the garbage in the large blue bins in bamboo area near the front entrance to the house
You may take a towel to the beach but you absolutely must bring it back
It can take up to a minute for the hot water to start running for your shower or up to 2.5 minutes in the penthouse wc. I know this is contradictory but please try not to waste water.
It is standard in Mexico to not flush toilet paper but instead to put it in wastebins. We are going to risk it and flush it anyways, but please understand that plumbing can be sensitive here so please use as little as possible and/or flush twice
Turn off all lights and fans when you are not using them. Help us save the environment and money
Do not move any furniture on your own. Ask Jorge for assistance
The storage space under the first set of stairs is for the gardener - please respect
The storage space between the kitchen and first floor w.c. belongs to the owner – please respect
You can leave fans on throughout the day but if you leave the house please turn them down to low to save on electricity expenses and unnecessary damage to the planet
Leave lights on at night and off during the day. Keep an eye out for ext lights left on during the day
Housekeeping is included in your rental price – please tip for laundry service
If you want more regular cleaning service, let me know and we can arrange it
Keep all doors closed or with their feet down as the wind slams them shut otherwise
Be VERY CAREFUL to keep your cigarettes and other flames away from the palapa
Be VERY CAREFUL to keep your cigarettes and other flames away from the palapa
I repeated that twice on purpose
there are two fire extinguishers – 1 at the top of the first flight of stairs, 1 in the little shack covering the water tank on the roof
please don’t lose the keys – if you lose a set it will cost you 350 pesos (front door = 200 pesos
some of the cement floors can be slippery when wet. Please be careful
Feel free to use the BBQ. You can get coal and “okote” to get the flames going at the market. Please keep the BBQ as far away as possible from the Palapa
If you keep windows and doors open while you sleep you should have no problems keeping away the mosies. If this doesn’t work, please ask Jorge to put up a mosquito net for you.
I’m sure there are more things to mention but I’ll leave the last surfer bullet for
Have a great, relaxing time!!!!

Tortas (sandwiches) and juices across from tienda Rubi (about 500 meters north of the house at the main entrance to la Punta.

It's unlikely that you'll be able to find a cheap option or convenient ticket booking direct to PXM from an international destination but its worth trying first. So...
fly direct to Huatulco (HUX) from from your connection in mexico city MEX and take a 1.5 hour taxi to Puerto -PXM $60ish
book your flights to MEX and then arrange a connection to PXM with (URL HIDDEN) or (URL HIDDEN) If no direct connections are possible into PXM on the same day of your international flight, you could consider connecting in HUX.
If you book with viva, be careful to check all the rules on luggage so you don't go over. They are a pretty bare bones airline but they're the cheapest!

Paul's place is beautiful! Its decoration is great and gives the house a very airy feel. It's a 10-minute walk to the beach from the house and the place is located in the "La Punta" section of Puerto Escondido. Paul, as well as Eloisa, were both very hospitable and helpful with regards to any questions that we had about the house and Puerto. Great place!

The house looks like it's pictures. After a long car ride, and many carsick, I got a thumbs up that the house was perfect. It fit all of our large group with some more space. The road is a little hard to find, but you can recognize the house from the street. When we got there, there were 3 large jugs of water with a purifier, a large britta in the fridge to keep purifying and chilling water and a bunch of cold beers. The view from the second floor makes you feel like you are in a wonderful tree house with an amazing view of the tropics and ocean. Well worth the crazy drive we took. It is a short walk down the hill to the beach. I wouldn't recommend the beach for little kids. Large waves and a slight slope of sand to the water. But seemed great for surfers. Our family did enjoy walking the beach at night to watch the sunset. It isn't right in Puerto Escondido, a slight drive to get to the main town and beaches. Which can be nice to get away from the "crazy" to a quieter neighborhood. A small store is right around the corner for a few things. Paul also does a great job at getting back to you. I would definitely consider staying there again if I were in Puerto Escondido again.

We had a wonderful holiday in Puerto Escondido. The pool hanging over the garden has a magical view of the entire bay. Beautiful especially at night! Jorge was super helpful and nice. The house was comfortable, cool and very clean. I would recommend this house for anyone planning a chilled holiday!
