We offer two rooms in a self-contained guest wing plus a third room in the main house with own bathroom. A communal area in a spacious living room may be used for meals, socialising, or work. Located on Buziga hill in Kampala the house has a spectacular view of the lake, the city and my beautiful garden. We can accommodate up to 3 guests.
The bungalow sits on a balcony-like plot which I turned into a tropical garden. The atmosphere is truly special: You can watch the sun and the moon rise 'out of the lake' and truly African starry skies, or sunbathe in privacy and enjoy evenings by the fire. A global-local melange of safari-feel, artsy simplicity with attention to detail and functionality combined with first-rate and thoughtful management will make your stay a distinctive experience.
The residence is located in a quiet and safe area. The guest wing provides your own entrance, security is provided. You chose whether you like to rent one room or the whole guest-wing or the guest room in the main room with its own bathroom - or all of them!. We can provide breakfast and/or other homemade meals. We arrange the rooms to your liking and needs (number of beds, use of kitchen-corner, laundry, cleaning). You enjoy your private space in the garden.
We assist you with arrangements for transport, with info on how to get around in Kampala and what to do in Uganda. We can organize pick-up and drop off from/to the airport. Nearby the residence you find a variety of restaurants, hotels with swimming pools, a number of gyms and massage salons, a hospital, pharmacies, supermarkets and a great local market. The American Recreation Club (10 minutes drive from the house - ARA, see web) offers a temporary membership that allows you to use the restaurant, swimming pool, volleyball, yoga and Pilates classes, tennis and squash courts, and gym. If you come with a vehicle, we've got parking space.
The rent is negotiable depending on duration of stay, choice of room/s and whether you'd like to use fridge and/or kitchen etc, number of people and provisions required. We are also happy to consider your available budget. The general rate for the guest room in the main house per person/night is 40EUR/55USD plus fees for utilities, cleaning/laundry or other services. Breakfast, meals, drinks etc are separate (price-list provided).

Security measures have to be followed.
Viktoria was very helpful - she secured drivers for us, made excellent food, and even help fix a car battery that had corroded and needed maintenance, then driving it to the place where we were working, taking a boda boda back to her home.
Viktoria is a very kind host and does look after you! Her house is very lovely as well with lots of artwork and general cosiness and has a great view across kampala. you should stay here
I would definitely recommend Viktoria's house! It is peaceful and has everything that you could need. Viktoria is extremely accommodating and her staff is as well. They'll make sure that you're well taken care of during your stay. The house is a gem and you could spend hours in the garden. Viktoria is also an amazing cook, so make sure you have her cook you something tasty, like her famous fish dish! There were other guests when I was there which was quite nice as well.
The only thing to be aware of is that the house is 'far' from downtown. I quite liked this factor as it's extremely peaceful there after spending my days downtown. It's also so easy to get around with the bodas stationed very close to her place. It took me about 30 mins on a boda to get to my work place (near Mulago hospital). I was a bit wary of taking a boda every day but through Viktoria I used a boda driver that was very reliable and a safe driver, so I felt quite ok about it.
All in all, definitely recommend staying with Viktoria, she's a lovely person and excellent host!
We spent the first part of our honeymoon here and LOVED it! Beautiful, relaxing, and really amazing food. Would recommend it to anyone! Thanks again for making our first trip to Africa so enjoyable...
Viktoria's place is a very nice choice in Kampala. Beautifully and artfully decorated with comfortable rooms and a lovely garden and terrace. it is quite far from the centre of Kampala...40mins taxi (phone number hidden) UGS) And for that reason I would recommend it for business travellers and those staying more than a few days in the city, as Kampala is a chaotic city and some like me, need a retreat! It was only a shame that we didn't meet Viktoria as she was travelling, but her house keeper Helen was pleasant and Viktoria sent us an amazing briefing pack in advance with very clear directions, instructions, useful numbers etc.
I stayed at Viktoria's house for a month and had a really enjoyable time. The house is located in a very nice, quite and safe area on Buziga hill. Especially when working in the crowded and hectic city center, it's nice to come back here to relax after a stressful day. Just down the hill (about a 7min walk) is a boda-boda station and also a taxi station for transportation. It takes between 30 - 50 min to get into town (very much depending on traffic). Viktoria and her staff are also very helpful with arranging the transportation into town and other things like shopping. The guestwing is in a very good condition, clean and has everything you need for having a perfect stay. Also, the house has a beautiful garden and verenda, which can also be used by guests. Viktoria and her staff are very good hosts, helping you with any questions or problems you might have.
I would definitely recommend staying with Viktoria, if you are looking for a nice, private retreat from all the hustle and bustle in town.
This is a really good place to stay in Kampala, Victoria is very kind and so helpfully, she used lots of her good contacts in Kampala and whole Uganda to help us and a friend, who is starting a new development project in Gulu.
I can truly recommend her house very much. There is a overwhelming view of the Lake Victoria from the terrace and beautiful garden. Victoria offered us a very tasty dinner with fresh fish from the lake, cooked in a ugandian style.
The house is safe and equipped with an trustworthy individual alarm system and an security guard on demand.
In the apartment there is a fridge, some useful kitchen utensils and a hotplate, but it is much nicer to enjoy the dinner together with victoria ,when she is offering you to stay for the meal.
From the clean and cosy bedroom with good misquitonets and electrical repellent you can watch the sunrise over the lake.
If you need an transport in Uganda I can recommend you Frank, he´s a good and reliable driver, Victoria will surely call him for you and negotiate a good price.
Next time we come to Kampala we will certain stay here again.

Since 1999 I live in Uganda - the pearl of Africa. As a consultant I am lucky to spend time with gardening, tennis, yoga, voluntary work and artsy things of all sorts. Over time I got to know quite a bit about Uganda and East Africa and can assist you with a lot of info. Having done a lot of safaris in the region myself, I can help you to organize your own trip within Uganda and/or beyond.
My residence is quite a magical place. Looking out towards the lake we see the full moon rising glamorously and every morning I can watch the glorious sunrise emerging from the lake before all the birds start their chants and the superb tropical light makes every thing glow and shine in perfection .
I have hosted a number of young people who came over to get some work experience in Africa, some of them working with me in various projects. If you are interested, I might be able to get you connected to musicians, yoga classes, business and development partners, volunteers or photographers and 'safaristas'! Senior experts from Germany (see web, SES Germany) often stay here to prepare for their assignments up country or to relax before their return.
So: Come and enjoy! I am looking forward to meet you!
