The Space

Inquire about dates - calendar is not useful until our county gets a new vacation rental ordinance!

Brand new - just totally remodeled. Very cozy & very well arranged. About 200 sf inside - a room, kitchenette and a marble bathroom plus a lovely, private patio outside. Access to lots of adjacent storage.

**Suddenly, ALL vacation rental hosts along the coast are at serious risk. Benignly neglected by local officials for decades, vacation rental properties are now being scrutinized. In the spotlight is an old code (1997) which prohibits stays of less than thirty days. We who have hosted short stays (for years without issues) are now being targeted by opponents want short term rentals banned outright. While the vast majority of vacation rentals pose no problems there have been some bad apples (generally renting from absentee owners) who have caused legitimate problems. Now all rentals are being targeted. Opponents insist that the old code be enforced and actively search sights like vrbo, airbnb, etc. to file complaints. They insist on citations and fines. Responsible hosts like us (we live full time on site) are the majority & our guests contribute immensely to our local economy. We want to continue offering travelers alternatives to hotels etc. Officials are now caught in the crossfire and can no longer just collect the occupancy tax while neglecting to update an ordinance . We're hoping for a fair resolution soon. Until then....
WE ARE LOOKING FOR GUESTS WHO WANT LONG TERM STAYS and are offering an incredibly inexpensive rate. Call if this fits your needs as the calendar is no longer useful. There is NO TAX on a monthly rental.
More information can be found by searching for Monterey County Vacaton Rental Coalition.

Lucky long time, full time residents of beautiful Carmel. Retired art gallery owner partnered with a retired custom home builder. Between us we've lived here for over 50 years and wouldn't think of living anywhere else. But...we love to travel too. This photo was taken in 2009 along the Tuscan coast when we hiked the entire Cinqueterre.
Having the free time and knowing what a destination Carmel is, we have begun a little business as vacation rental hosts. This sweet studio is our first offering and we're excited to offer visitors a chance to live like locals without having to spend a small fortune to be here.
