I stayed at Kit's place for six nights, and it was the best experience I've ever had. If you want to immerse yourself in the Hong Kong culture and living conditions, this is the place for you. The flights up the stairs were not daunting at all. I've even come to miss them. The rooftop is the best place for bonding. I've spent many happy hours up there with some of the other housemates. MTR Station is just a-minute walk away, 7-11 is just in the next street and there are many local eateries around. It's pretty much communal living, and there is no privacy, except in the bathroom. But that was what I was going for - to make more friends, so it really didn't bother me. Kit is a really friendly host. He fixes up the apartment whenever he comes by, and he gives lots of suggestions on where to go and what to do. Very interesting person to talk to. Overall, I was really happy and would go back there if I were to visit Hong Kong again.
Kit, the host, was a nice and friendly guy. Too bad the place was a mess. The floor seems like it hasn't been mopped for years. Same with the bathroom. It looks nothing like in the photos. The place was just too dirty, messy, and old, I got sick after staying for 2 nights. Nice concept, but at this price I can get a much nicer hostel in a much nicer area.
Kit's place was homely. It was a pity I didn't get to meet him throughout my stay, otherwise the stay would surely be a lot better :)
Real Kit is more handsome than this profile picture ;) Anyway good guy. And it may be much better if I can know who was there because I count have talked with other ppl so much. I hope everyone can have good travelling at HK!
I had never stayed in a dorm style room before via airbnb so I didn't quite know what to expect. I loved the area, it was really in the heart of the local community. The 9 floor walk up was rough but thankfully only had to do it twice a day! The space was a bit cluttered when I first arrived as people had been in and out. The bathroom was extremely small so showering and changing was not easy. The next day when I came back from site seeing the place had been cleaned up so it was much nicer. Kit was such a nice guy, we had some really interesting conversations!
Kit is a nice host, he wait for my arrival and show me around his apartment and introduce me to all my new room mate.. His place is easy to locate too..
Kit's place have a homely feel and the people I met during my trip is so friendly..
When you go up to the roof, the view is great..
I will definitely stay at kit's place if I go back to Hong Kong.. Worth the money...
Good location near subway stop, and 9 flights of stairs is a good workout. Clean place, great host!
Tin Tong - as the name suggests in Cantonese, it literally meant Heaven. Located on the 9th floor above the always buzzing Sham Shui Po, Tin Tong cannot be located at any better place than this. Sham Shui Po is arguably the home of Hong Kong's best street foods such as curry fish balls, fried tofu, roasted pork, and not forgetting Michelin starred dim sum restaurant, Tim Ho Wan is only a few minutes away.
It's only a mere 3 minutes walk from the MTR station, though the climb up the stairs could set you back a little but it will be worth it. The location is very accessible to places such as Mongkok, Tsim Tsa Tsui and Central because of the MTR.
The hostel is cozy, filled with youthful and vibrant energy, occupied by the warm and welcoming fellow travellers who are more than happy to help each other. The place is a little untidy at times but the company, the environment, the location, and the rooftop made up for everything.
The rooftop is a great place to hang out at night with some relaxing music and marvel at the amazing view of Hong Kong and its unique architecture.
The host, Kit is probably the most down to earth and coolest guy we ever met. Always wearing a smile on his face, dishing out travel tips that you won't find anywhere on the internet.
A special thanks to Kit, Tristan, Pia, Lucca, Wing, Arounie and Jack for making our stay memorable and enjoyable by showing us around and also exploring the dark alleys of Hong Kong. So, till next time...

Wonderful place to stay in Hong Kong. I had no idea as to where to stay--in Kowloon, or on HK island? Thank god I chose Kowloon. This is "real" Hong Kong--walk out the door of the hostel (and descend 9 flights of stairs) & you're in the thick of the incredible Apliu Street market. Plenty to see & eat, very near the subway, & well-located to explore other parts of HK as well.
Go for a wonderful open atmosphere, including a private rooftop. If you want privacy, this may not be for you.
