  • I stayed for a night and thought the place was pretty cool and comfortable. The house itself was clean and the bed was nice, it was very loud but I don't know any houses that arent somewhat creaky. It didn't feel super personal but that's just something i would have liked, I still felt welcome and safe though.

  • Overall a fantastic experience for the price. Stayed in a private room with 2 friends and were more than pleased. Great location. Easy to come and go (w/ self check-in). Would definitely recommend to others seeking a DIY hostel experience in an cozy well located house on Alberta.

  • I am so grateful for the Loft Inn. Rochelle was able to accommodate my boyfriend and me in less than 24 hours - and also on Thanksgiving day! The location was great and there was fresh towels and sheets waiting for us when we arrived. Thanks for everything, Rochelle!

  • Great location in an up and coming neighborhood. I really only slept there, but all was adequate, clean and very comfortable bed (I was upgraded to the largest room). Also, access is very easy from/to downtown, the number 8 bus runs every 10-15 minutes, and a pickup stop is 3 blocks from the Amtrak station. Also, connecting to the Red max line to/from the airport via Rose Center transit stop is very easy. Lastly, I would highly recommend a visit to Washington Park and the rose garden, Vietnam memorial and arboretum (great easy hikes through woodlands), all of which are free and accessible via several Max lines. Lastly, several posters mentioned the squeeking staircase. This is true, but Rochelle has come up with a smart solution, free earplugs on the welcome table!

  • Rochelle's place was just perfect..

    This stay was my first on AIRBnB and couldn't have been better :) I had reserved the "Room w/double bed" and Rochelle upgraded me to the "Breitenbush Room". Room was clean, water hot and everyone was very nice. Rochelle even gave suggestions on navigating the town. Seems like I'll proably be back here at some point, and hopefully it'll be sooner than later!

    Overall, A+++

  • Great Spot to stay if you don't mind staying in a hostel style atmosphere. I had requested a private room, but it wasn't available so Rochelle contacted me and offered a room shared with one other person Matt. This worked just fine for me. Overall the communication was great and I wouldn't hesitate to stay at the Inn at Alberta again!

  • I greatly recommend Inn Alberta Arts for anyone visiting Portland. Rochelle was extremely accommodating and flexible--I was able to book a private room 4 days before I was schedule to arrive. I considered getting a hotel room, but I'm so glad I didn't. Rochelle's place was adorable, clean and furnished/stocked with all the necessities. The keyless entry made it easy to come and go as you pleased. The Alberta Arts District will keep you entertained with great boutiques, restaurants, food carts and bars. What made my stay even better though were all the other people who were also staying at the Inn (whether relocating to Portland or just passing by)--everybody was so nice and helpful, I definitely made some new friends.

  • What a wonderful place to stay! Very laid back and relaxing house atmosphere, accommodations were great, and Millicent and Josh were excellent! I made some amazing friends here, was able to experience Alberta at it's finest and was close to public transit, so it made exploring Portland that much easier!

    I WILL be back to stay at this guest house very soon! :)

“Take only memories, leave only footprints.” – Chief Seattle Bought a ticket to Portland in 1990 upon returning from England and haven't left the Northwest since. There were extended stops in Bellingham and Castle Rock, WA, and houses all around Portland, though now I can't imagine living in any neighborhood besides the Alberta Arts district. Even in a city known for 'different', Alberta pushes the free- and forward-thinking envelope just a little bit further. Our house is in a fabulous spot right on Alberta Street. Great food, art, yoga, and shopping abound for all budgets. And please don't pass on the pie at Random Order, less than 2 blocks away. Pie hater, I, and still it's divine! There's a nearby bike rental and public transportation options within 1 to 2 blocks. Currently we have an artist in residence expanding our artification. Right now, he's creating a mythic tree mural in one of our guest rooms. In the summer, look for our new and colorful patio! I'm a storyteller, currently writing a musical and hatching ideas at the intersection of art and activism. Portland is a great place for creativity - full of quirky, wonderful people, beautiful natural spots that feed the spirit and loads of cultural offerings.Must visits on my list include the Gorge waterfalls and Powells books - the ultimate planetary bookstore (at least in this galaxy). I think one of the best parts of traveling is feeling welcome and comfortable wherever you land. When I'm on the road, I steer toward cheerful, friendly spots with just the right mix of privacy and community. Living in England cemented my fondness for guest houses. Those happy stays in cozy homes primed me to seek out similar accommodations whenever I travel. While raising my son - he's off to college in western Mass - I wanted to fill him up with plenty of road time. We twice twirled the US and trekked a time or two to Europe, Mexico and Central America. I think travel is a priceless gift to children and if you're traveling with kids, I'll be delighted to welcome them as guests. I look forward to meeting you and hearing some of your stories - but only if you want to share!
