  • My friend and I had a great stay! The directions to get there were on point, the instructions to get into the house were easy, and the room was clean. No complaints!

  • I stayed for a night and thought the place was pretty cool and comfortable. The house itself was clean and the bed was nice, it was very loud but I don't know any houses that arent somewhat creaky. It didn't feel super personal but that's just something i would have liked, I still felt welcome and safe though.

  • Overall a fantastic experience for the price. Stayed in a private room with 2 friends and were more than pleased. Great location. Easy to come and go (w/ self check-in). Would definitely recommend to others seeking a DIY hostel experience in an cozy well located house on Alberta.

  • I had a wonderful time at the Alberta Inn - The house is extremely comfortable and clean. I felt right at home from the minute I arrived, and loved the neighborhood with an endless amount of shops, cafes, restaurants, and bars to explore. I would definitely recommend a stay with Rochelle if you're traveling to Portland on a budget, and look forward to staying here again next time I'm in town!

  • Great location and easy relaxing stay. Thanks for everything!

  • For the price and location, Rochelle's place worked well for us. It is run as a hostel mostly, but we had our own private bedroom. The other guests were very pleasant. It is in the Alberta Arts District which has lots of great independent stores, bars, restaurants, food trucks, etc. a very funky area.

  • We are heartbroken that there won't be a rochelle in every city we stay in on our trip - we wish we could clone her. What an amazing, generous lady. The hostel itself is hands down the best we have ever stayed in, clean, welcoming and safe with an incredible atmosphere. We made such good friends there and had such an amazing time on alberta street, this is truly the best located guest house in portland! We stayed in 3 different rooms during our week there and they were all gorgeous. Thank so much rochelle!

“Take only memories, leave only footprints.” – Chief Seattle I've lived all over Portland, but after planting roots in the Alberta Arts district a nearly a decade ago, I can't imagine living anywhere else. Even in a city known for 'different', Alberta pushes the free- and forward-thinking envelope just a little bit further. Our house is in a great spot--so close to fab food, art, yoga, and shopping for all budgets. (Don't forget to stop off for a slice of Random Order pie!) We've got our own local bike rental and public transportation options within 1 to 2 blocks. Portland is rich in beautiful natural spots and diverse cultural offerings.Must visits on my list include the Gorge waterfalls and Powells books - the ultimate planetary bookstore (at least in this galaxy). I think one of the best parts of traveling is feeling comfortable wherever you land. When I'm on the road, I steer toward cheerful, friendly spots with just the right mix of privacy and community. Living in England cemented my fondness for guest houses. Those happy stays in cozy homes primed me to seek out similar lodgings when I travel. I love being able to open our house to the fabulous folk who find their way to us. I look forward to meeting you and hearing some of your stories. Welcome!
