The Riad accommodates a couple, friends or a family, up until 4 people wishing to experience Marrakesh from inside…
Upon entering the door of the Riad, you will discover the patio which is at the heart of the house. All rooms are arranged around the Patio and its fountain. On the ground floor: the two living rooms, the dining room and the kitchen. On the first floor: a passage leads to the two bedrooms, each with an ensuite attached. On the second floor: the terrace with its view over the Medina and the Atlas Mountains.
Its situation in the centre of the Medina is perfect for discovering the main sites of the red city by foot. By crossing the antiques district you will reach the Jemaa el Fna square within 10 minutes. The secure and calm environment of the Riad will enable you to enjoy visiting and resting in the heart of an authentic Marrakesh.
Airport transfers. If you wish, Hassan will greet you directly at the airport (whatever your arrival time) and will lead you to the riad. The fare for a round trip is 300 dirhams.
If you desire, Jamila can prepare and cook yours breakfasfs, lunches or dinners (payable directly to Hassan). The riad accommodates up to 4 people. The riad is rented fully furnished with cooking utensils, crockery, household linen (except face cloths), bed clothes... If you need a cleaning woman during your stay, please contact Hassan. If you encounter any problems during your rental period, do not hesitate to contact Hassan.
During your stay, you will discover « How to live in Medina ». The Marrakchis are friendly and can help you to find what you search in the Medina. They are discreet and we advise to respect their culture and traditions. Their privacy is very important (private rooftop terraces). Alcohol consumption should be "discreet". You have to hide your empties bottles in opaque plastic bags. Thank you for your understanding and have a nice stay.
A valid passport is required for entry into Morocco.
Dealing with the owner was a pleasant experience. She organized for us to be met and arranged for someone to deal with our concerns when we were in the property.
The driver met us at the airport as planned. He was delightful and provided a lovely introduction to Marrakesh. Our contact in Marrakesh was extremely helpful in helping us get settled and responded quickly when we called for assistance on various matters.
The house (riad) is beautiful and it was exciting to stay in such a traditional home. We found it to be very spacious and particularly enjoyed the roof top deck. It is located in the heart of the Medina, and felt vibrantly historic; one could truly experience the essence of Marrakesh. The beds were comfortable, showers good and kitchen well equipped. There was ample hot water.
There were, however, some issues that arose:
Off season travellers should be aware that this is three story, windowless riad. When the courtyard is covered (as it is in winter with a thick, clear plastic) very little light gets in. As a result the house is very dark and airless. This would likely not be a problem in the summer months.
The Internet did not work when we arrived and because it was the weekend it took three days to get it sorted out (and even then the signal was intermittent and weak). We are on the road for a fair amount of time and depend on internet for current and future plans, as well as dealing with personal and business matters. Internet cafe's in the neighbourhood were few and far between. Again, for some this would not be an issue, but for us it was very inconvenient.
The house was very cold. Clearly in the winter this is inevitable, but it took a couple of days to be comfortable – it would make a difference if some heating were on for a few hours before arrival. The second bedroom in particular was very damp and smelly – our son ended up sleeping downstairs for most of the week.
We finally made good use of the fireplace but again, the little amount of wood that was left was very damp and difficult to keep alight. We were able to buy some wood on the second day, and were provided with enough for the rest of the week on the 3rd day – this would have been very welcome on the first night.
Great house at great price. We really enjoyed our time. Also, Hassan took good care of us. He and his wife cooked us a wonderful new year's eve dinner. We also liked the area a lot. It's at the edge of the Medina, so if you need some time outside the old town, it is an easy walk to the new part Guéliz which we highly recommend. There are some little downsides as well. Overall, the house is very clean, however there is often a certain smell coming up from the drainage. But I guess you have to live with that as it is an old building. Also, some of the blankets had a slight smell. As a previous guest already stated, it can be quiet chilly in winter. The heaters for the sleeping rooms are ok, but if you are using two at the same time, the electricity might go off. Last but not least, the shower in one of the bed rooms is - as some one else put it before - a certain "challenge". But all in all, these are minor cons and we really enjoyed the stay as well as the hospitality. We would stay again and can definitely recommend the Riad.
The Riad looks exactly like the pictures. It's very nice, clean and cosy. Hassan very helpful, and perfect location only 5 min walk to place des epieces and 10 min to PLace Jemaa el Fna, with nice shops around, Hammam...
We were 4 people and would come back in our next trip to Marrakech.
This Riad was such a good choice! It's been a quite and tranquil oasis in the hustle and bustle of Marrakech. We did feel very comfy and at home, the rooms are nice and clean, the terrace perfect to relax or for some yoga. We did not miss anything.
Perfect located, it was easy to walk everywhere and the area is very safe.
Everything was very well organised and Hassan was an excellent host and easy to communicate with.
All we can do is recommend this beautiful house and hope it will be available when coming back soon.
This riad is a beautiful spacious oasis in a nice, less hectic, part of the medina. All the necessary items for a convenient stay were present. Communication with Vero and Hassan was easy and fast. We would definitely return here for an next visit to exciting Marrakesh.
