This stay was our very first ever via airbnb. I, my wife, 2 of our kids, stayed for 2 nights.
The location was great. The drive was quick and simple to get to downtown Victoria and back. The neighborhood felt safe, and was always very quiet at night. Parking was never a problem; there was always an available spot on the street right in front of the house.
The residence was very clean, and the beds were very comfortable. I particularly enjoyed the living/TV room; it was nice to be able to stretch out, relax, kick back, while the kids watched some cartoons. And being able to do a load of laundry on our last day before hitting the road was a huge bonus.
Communicating with Melissa was simple too. Again, since this was our first time using airbnb, I probably had way more questions than a typical airbnb user, but Melissa answered them all.
And there was an excellent selection of tourist brochures and maps made available. What a thoughtful act of convenience for guests!
There are two physical features of this location that are handy to know. First, the ceilings are low, and there is a particularly low beam as you enter the kitchen. My head at the top of my 6'2" frame learned the hard way just how low that beam was. Also, the top of my head touched the ceiling in the shower. Second, there is a small set of stairs to enter the building, then another one to enter the unit. If my 81-year-old mother had been traveling with us, those would have been very difficult for her to navigate. I don't consider these negatives, but rather just physical facts that would be good to know upfront about the location.
This place was all we could ask for. I never met our host, but she was available by email the entire time. She emailed the directions to get in. The place was fantastic. There were 4 of us staying, and it was a perfect fit. Very roomy. It was nice to come back and sit and relax in front of the tv after a long day exploring the city. It was great having kitchen amenities too. The only downside was that the ceilings were low. My husband is 6'1", and had to duck to get under beams, but it was a minor inconvenience. It was close to everything we needed and had parking available, I would definitely stay here again the next time we are in Victoria!
It was a really nice stay in your appartement. We really enjoyed the huge space, your hospitality and the grill in the garden! Take care
Melissa's home in beautiful Victoria BC was conveniently located to downtown via a short trip by car or bus. Clean, affordable and comfortable would be the words to best describe the property. Wifi and cable worked excellent. Thanks for sharing your home with us!
Melissa was very accommodating with out needs, considering that we were traveling with someone who was dealing with cancer. The space was clean and fresh, and easy to locate. Lots of space for our party of four. The backyard was a nice addition too, and we spent mornings and evening meals outside in the nice weather. Melissa came down to help with the TV and provided anything we needed in addition to what was already available. It was a great stay and I highly recommend this space for anyone looking to find a stay that is more private.
I work for the Greater Victoria School Board. My husband, Ryan, works as a care aid in geriatrics. Our son is going into grade 11 this September. We are a soccer family, all of us play. We live in the two upper floors of this home and have host international students for 6 years.
