No special house rule : just enjoy your stay here, respecting the place, the neighbours, and the things that are being left in the apartment to make you feel home. Treat them as they were your own :-)
One important thing though: NOTHING SHALL BE THROWN IN THE TOILETS
Windows shall be closed when leaving the apartment, door should be locked... Well it's just as you would do if you were in your place, isn't it?
Photos do not do the apartment and it's outdoor space justice. The place is beautiful - a dream cottage in the middle of Paris. Amandine was more than accommodating. Would highly recommend and gladly stay there again.
The Apartment Amandine in Bastille is set back from the street down a beautiful private lane with a small courtyard out the front. It is certainly removed from the bustle of the district. (There are many restaurant choices in the Bastille so it is a desirable area).
Sue was waiting at the apartment for us when we arrived and was always very easy to contact.
Apartment Amandine is an old building and rather fragile. Everything people say in other reviews about the squeaky floorboards is correct. You can't move around at night without waking up the house. The toilet is also a rather strange affair which shares more in common with an aeroplane toilet than a conventional toilet. It seems like the entire series of apartments have similar toilets as you can hear them in other parts of the building.
There is a 450 Euro security deposit and contract which you have to sign before the keys are handed over. Given the fragility of the building and the finicky toilet which costs 450 Euro if it blocks it makes for a stay where you are worried the whole time and have to be extremely careful. I pulled a phone charger out from a socket in the wall and the entire plate came off the wall. To make matters worse I had a bout of food poisoning from elsewhere in France so I spent the entire time in the apartment, on and off the toilet, wondering when something would go wrong and I'd lose the security deposit.
We stayed with other hosts on AirBnB and really felt like we were part of something special. Apartment Amandine really felt like we were just part of a money making venture. It was clear no one lives in the apartment and it is just constantly rented out one way or another. It was quite expensive compared to other apartments so overall we were left with the feeling that, although nice and full of character, we would not stay there again.
I stayed for one week with my husband and two small children at Amandine's little Paris oasis. We loved the apartment; it was very comfortable, nicely decorated and with everything we needed. We felt like it was our home for the week. The neighbourhood it is located in has great shops, restaurants and bakeries and it is very easy to get around Paris from here. It was the perfect base for us. Everything went very smoothly with the check-in and check-out. The fresh croissants, wine and other foods were very appreciated when we arrived. This special touch is very generous. The place and the people are really lovely! Thank you for welcoming us.
Amandine's Bastille apartment was excellent. On arrival we were met by Sue who helped us get settled and was genuinely helpful in suggesting restaurants and cafes to visit. The apartment itself is as it is pictured; a great mix of modern and charm. Close to everything you need, the metro is a 2 minute walk, bakery on the corner. A wonderful home base to explore Paris!
In just a few words , this was absolutely perfect ! Amandine and Sye could not have been more helpful and the wee house and courtyard were perfect for myself and my2 daughters (15 and 12) . Really convenient, comfortable and clean.
The bottle of wine and croissants were a great touch. Entry and leaving times were arranged tO suit us. Sue was just so friendly and really made us feel welcome. Would stay again and recommend to others !
Thanks so much ! X
I reserved this apartment for my parents for three nights in July. Amandine was very accommodating for the check-in and check-out by working around their schedules, and she even offered them coffee, tea, wine, and bread upon arrival. She was extremely responsive and available when there were questions and concerns, and generally made my parents feel at home.
While the apartment itself was conveniently located and cozy with a rustic decor and lovely terrace, it was a bit overpriced, given the amenities, space, and maintenance of the place, compared to other apartments I've experienced in Paris through airbnb and otherwise. For instance, there was no real table on which to dine, numerous lights weren't functioning, and the old, wooden floors squeaked ceaselessly. Regardless, though, the stay was a good one.
Amandine is a delightful hostess and her advice was invaluable. We loved our time in Paris in her gorgeous apartment and she organized a taxi to take me to the airport which was extremely kind of her. I also hope to return in the future.

A Parisian at heart…
I was born in Paris 38 years ago (not so easy to find a Paris native in Paris!) and grew up in a milieu where French art de vivre is key.
I love Paris, where I have my habit but where I always keep room for surprise.
I’m the one, friends have always kept calling asking « where could I take my parents for dinner » « what would you suggest for an anniversary », « It’s so sunny today, where can we have a brunch ?
Just like you…
I love travelling, discovering new parts, going out to concerts, movies, exhibitions, partying or spending quiet times with family and friends by the fire place in a sunny park .
I love good food, good wine, and I feel truly sorry when I see disoriented tourists sitting in a tourist trap where I wouldn’t go even if paid.
I decided it was time !
After studying in HEC management school and working for 10 years in big advertising agencies, I left the top management position I had achieved, deciding that it was time that I launched my own business, make something that I really liked. That's how I founded my own business, with this ambitious project of making you experience Paris like only a Parisian can.
Looking forward to seeing you in Paris ! :)
