The space
This private master suite is accessed directly from outside with self check-in. It has a newer (2020) king bed and a private bathroom (shower only and two sinks) which is accessed directly from the suite.

The suite includes a microwave, mini-fridge (with separate freezer), Keurig pod coffee maker, hot water kettle, dinette set and cups, dishes, utensils for enjoying eating-in.

I have stayed in more than 70 Airbnb's in 16 countries, and have tried to include all the best ideas in my own offering. Additional amenities include: superb high speed wifi, empty closet with shelving for only your use, luggage racks, extra blankets, easily accessed electrical/USB charging outlets and lamps on both sides of the bed, 55" Smart TV, hair dryer, and iron/board.

The suite has an excellent window air conditioner (installed seasonally) and two 3-speed ceiling fans. For colder weather, the house is centrally heated but the room also has a space heater in the event you like it warmer.

The home is a superbly convenient and safe location/base for exploring nearby Portland and the greater Northwest, whether by car or public transportation (3 minute walk to bus stop with frequent service). It’s a clean, quiet, safe, and comfortable place to plot your daily activities and get a good night’s sleep.

I provide a very comprehensive house manual that includes clickable links for mapping directions and nearby transit, emergency information, area pharmacies, ATMs, and restaurants/food services by type, walking time, driving time (including links for menus and driving/walking directions). It's a convenient resource for getting to know the neighborhood and area quickly -- in addition to the many paper tourist brochures/flyers/maps available in the room.

The home has private, off-street parking for one car (110v outlet nearby for electric car charging), nearby street parking for additional car, and is just an easy 3-minute walk to the bus stop with frequent service. It is also an easy 8-minute walk to a major grocery store (with inside seating), a separate Starbucks, and a few restaurants. It is situated in a peaceful, safe and friendly neighborhood of primarily older residents who have been in their homes for many years.

Healthy, active senior traveler; retired from a 32 year career in USA Federal law enforcement. I love learning about everywhere, everyone, and everything. I'm dad to three adult children and "Granddad" to five. In addition to earning Superhost status, I've been avid Airbnb guest myself (stayed in more than 73 Airbnb's in 16 countries).

I had my second Pfizer on April 4, 2021, and Pfizer boosters on October 5, 2021 and April 7, 2022.

During your stay

Since October 2020 we've offerred the master suite with its separate, private access from the rear patio and locked off from the main house (previously we had offerred the guest room in our house - but decided to discontinue that given the realities of necessary Covid protocols).

If we are in town, we will likely see each other coming and going in the driveway as we live in the rest of the house. One of the reasons we host Airbnb is because - having used it ourselves around the world - we greatly enjoy meeting and learning from guests and in helping them know about Portland. So don't hesitate with any questions or contact.

Please know that I believe in taking all precautions and cleaning protocols in dealing with this pandemic (we are vaccinated and boostered). In addition, the suite will not be accessed by anyone but you during your stay. For our own safety and health, we discourage reservations from anyone unwilling or unable to have been Covid-19 vaccinated.

In the reviews, you'll read about my home-made, authentic pearl-sugar Belgian waffles - and some will be in the freezer of the mini-fridge ready to be toasted, if you'd like, along with a few Keurig coffee pods (and a selection of teas) to get you started.
