This beautiful little home has two double bedrooms and a kitchen/living area downstairs. for 2016 we have added a lovely sunroom (photos to follow), This has two three seater sofas and a workspace with desk.

It opens onto a small secluded garden at the back, you can sit by an old stone wall (at least 200 years old) and sip a glass of wine as the sun sets.

The cottage is very comfortable, with patchwork quilts on the bed, unique artwork on the walls and plenty of books to read.

Whenever you are renting, you will always have exclusive use of the cottage, you will not be sharing with us or any other guests.

This home does not have access for wheelchair users as it is build on two levels.

There are two woodburning stoves, one in the sitting room and one in the sunroom, with a plentiful supply of wood, for any chilly evenings.

The kitchen is fully equipped and there will be a range of basic spices etc, should you wish to cook at home.

There is a TV with access hundreds of channels, you can sit back and put your feet up after a hard day's sightseeing. There is also a DVD player with a small selection of DVDs to watch.

There is fast wifi throughout the cottage.

There is free parking right outside the door, once you park your car, you won't need to drive it again as all of Athlone is on your doorstep.

You can eat and some of the best restaurants that Athlone has to offer. Including great Lebanese, Italian and Thai food. For fast food, Bethlem take away up the road is an Italian family chip shop, with excellent pizzas (and they deliver!)

Walk across the bridge, taking in the Luan art gallery on the way, and find yet more wonderful restaurants, great pubs, live music and all of the friendliness that this vibrant town on the Shannon, has to offer. As you stroll home you can stop for a nightcap in Sean's Bar the oldest pub in Ireland and enjoy some traditional music.

A local bus which leaves from the end of the road (3 mins walk) covers the length of athlone, providing access to the Athlone Institute of technology and it's International Sports Arena. Plus the Golden Island shopping centre and the railway and bus station.

Taxis are plentiful in Athlone.

My group and I had an amazing time at the cottage! Everything we needed was provided. Very clean and VERY cozy! Half of the time we didn't even want to leave the sun room or living room! Downtown just a few steps away. Highly recommend a stay here in Athlone!

I stayed in the Patchwork Cottage for two nights with friends and we desperately wanted to stay longer! The cottage is even more gorgeous in person, and it has such a welcoming feel to it. It was about a ten minute walk to the downtown area with pubs, restaurants, and the castle which suited us perfectly. Mollie left a generous welcome basket with snacks and wine, and though we didn't meet her in person her hospitality and friendliness was ever apparent! Would also recommend thumbing through the book of the history of the cottage. Such a charming handmade book that's as pretty to look at as it is informative! Overall, would definitely recommend this place and I'm tempted to come back to Athlone just to stay there!
