This beautiful little home has two double bedrooms and a kitchen/living area downstairs. It opens onto a secluded garden at the back, you can sit by an old stone wall (at least 200 years old) and sip a glass of wine as the sun sets. We are currently in the process of adding a sunroom to the back garden, stage one is complete, so now there is a little deck out there, by the end of the summer, we hope to have the sunroom completed.
The cottage is very comfortable, with patchwork quilts on the bed, unique artwork on the walls and plenty of books to read.
Whenever you are renting, you will always have exclusive use of the cottage, you will not be sharing with us or any other guests.
This home does not have access for wheelchair users as it is build on two levels.
There is a woodburning stove, with a plentiful supply of wood, for any chilly evenings.
The kitchen is fully equipped and there will be a range of basic spices etc, should you wish to cook at home.
There is a small TV with access to 20 channels, you can sit back and put your feet up after a hard day's sightseeing.
There is free parking right outside the door, once you park you car, you won't need to drive it again as all of Athlone is on your doorstep.
The entire house will be reserved for your use.
If required, at a small additional charge, a DIY breakfast pack will be supplied (sausages, bacon, free range eggs, homemade soda bread, tea and coffee)

Other Things to Note
Despite the fact that there are two bedrooms, the cottage is small, they are just regular size double beds and one living area. It is best suited to two to three adults, or perhaps two adults with kids, especially for longer stays than a night or two.
The cottage is non-smoking, guests are welcome to smoke in the garden.
We stayed for 2 days in Mollies fine house. It was a great pleasure to stay in her house. We didn't see Molloe but see take care for us to collect the key with a friend. It was nice and easy to stay with her.
The cottage was very clean and in a great location. It was very well suited for guests with a folder outlining everything guests needed to know and where to find things. The welcome hamper was very thoughtful!
We did not meet Mollie personally, but she did leave a welcome pack and the house was as described. The house was clean and comfortable throughout as well as been centrally located. We enjoyed our stay and would hope to return. Thank you Mollie.
This was our 2nd time staying in the Patchwork Cottage and it almost felt like returning home we enjoyed our stay so much. The sunroom was a welcome addition even in its unfinished state and should be wonderful upon completion. Mollie's cottage was equipped with everything we could possibly need and if you are considering a stay in Athlone we would highly recommend it.
Very responsive, cottage was spacious and well stocked. Great location for exploring the rest of Ireland!
The cottage was clean and ready for me when I arrived, and it was easy to find the place to collect the key (just around the corner - very handy!). Parking was available right outside the door. There's no number on the door but it's easy to work out that it's the one after 7!! Conveniently located just 5 minutes into the town centre, Athlone Castle, the Gallery, Sean's Bar (oldest bar in Ireland!) and whatever else you need. I was able to pick up a bus tour to Cliffs of Moher which included The Burren. The Dublin Tour Company were excellent and collected me from Applegreen (a servo just 7 Euro by cab) and dropped me back afterwards. The driver and guide, Antony, was amazing with his knowledge. Give them a go if you're thinking of doing it. I met with Edel (Mollie's mum) for a coffee - thanks Edel. It was lovely to meet you. The Patchwork Cottage is reasonably priced, they provide all sorts of bits and pieces (and treats!). Thanks Mollie & Edel!
We had the most wonderfull stay in this cottage. Mollie made sure that everything was arranged perfectly and we felt very at home! The cottage is on a perfect location in Athlone and it has a nice woodburner, kitchen and garden. It had everything we expected and even more. We would love to come back as soon as we can! It made our journey complete and unforgettable.
