Charming workman's cottage, 1 double bedroom quirky and fun for a stay in the heart of Athlone. Everything is in walking distance, gourmet restaurants, the castle, a cruise on a viking boat on the Shannon, a drink in the oldest pub in Ireland.
This beautiful little home has one available double bedroom and a kitchen/living area downstairs. It opens onto a wild flower garden which catches all of the sun in the evenings, you can sit by an old stone wall (at least 200 years old) and sip a glass of wine as the sun sets.
The cottage is very comfortable, with patchwork quilts on the bed, unique artwork on the walls and plenty of books to read.
As the cottage is used by us during the academic year, there is only one bedroom available to rent during term time, this is available only at weekends when we are away. You will have it all to yourself! The bedroom has a comfy double bed, one bathroom with electric shower.
However during holidays, Christmas, Easter and Summer, both double bedrooms are available. Whenever you are renting, you will always have exclusive use of the cottage, you will not be sharing with us or any other guests.
This home does not have access for wheelchair users as it is build on two levels.
There is a woodburning stove, with a plentiful supply of wood, for any chilly evenings.
The kitchen is fully equipped and there will be a range of basic spices etc, should you wish to cook at home.
There is a small TV with access to 20 channels, you can sit back and put your feet up after a hard day's sightseeing.
There is free parking right outside the door, once you park you car, you won't need to drive it again as all of Athlone is on your doorstep.
The entire house will be reserved for your use.
If required, at a small additional charge, a DIY breakfast pack will be supplied (sausages, bacon, free range eggs, homemade soda bread, tea and coffee)
The cottage is a great location if you are attending a wedding in athlone, it is within walking distance of The Shamrock Lodge (10 mins), The Radisson (10 mins), and the Sheraton hotels (15 mins)

Other Things to Note
Despite the fact that there are two bedrooms, the cottage is small, they are just regular size double beds and one living area. It is best suited to two to three adults, or perhaps two adults with kids, especially for longer stays than a night or two. And during academic term time, only one double bedroom is available.
The cottage is non-smoking, guests are welcome to smoke in the garden.
The flat was comfortable and cozy. The host went out of her way to facilitate our stay. The kitchen provides all you need to stay in and cook, and enjoy the seating area with the fireplace, the double bed was very comfortable. The location is perfect for exploring Athlone.
The cottage is just like the pictures, very comfortable and warm. Mollie was very kind, leaving some food for us and helping us with the rubbish, as we stayed for a long period. It's definitely a great place stay!
Mollie's home is cosy and warm. After a slight hick-up over the check-in Mollie very quickly sorted everything out, even from abroad! The rooms were comfortable and homely. Mollie left us a welcome present which came as a nice surprise. We enjoyed staying at her house.
We took the train and Molly's place was on the outskirts of the main part of town but it took less than 5 mins by taxi from the train st. It took less than 20 mins to walk to the station at the end of our stay which gave us an opportunity to see the wonderful old town again. We loved the layout of Molly's place within minutes of entering we felt at home. Everything was clean, comfortable and the kitchen was well equipped. The garden is a riot of flora and fauna. We never got to meet Molly but her presence and sweet extra touches make us feel we know her. The locals are extremely friendly. Athlone and Molly's was wonderful and we will definitely be back.
Mollie was very helpful from the start and even left some wine and snacks in the fridge for us. The cottage is larger than it looks from the outside and is only a short walk to the pubs and cafes etc. of Áth Luain's Left Bank. A handy base for a short trip.
Lovely house and a very nice kind host!!
