In addition to the wonder of The Chalet's river views, The River itself affords a tranquil pace yet many river activities as it meanders through scenic country before flowing to the nearby ocean. Villages and small towns alike all offer their own character with shopping, dining, antiquing or entertainment. Come for a visit; soak in the atmosphere or the river, enjoy the adventure or lay back and relax. You'll be glad you did! Enjoy all there is in the Russian River Resort area. A great link for Russian River activities is "Russian River Travel"
Stayed at this place over Easter from Saturday until Monday. Overall we had a pretty good time.
The negatives: Noise from downstairs such as voices or the "ringing" when the main door opens. The preparation messages and house rules we received prior to arrival were a little bit over the top.
The positives: The location of the place was great, large enough for two peeps and a weekend and it was spotless clean. Among the highlights were the balcony, jacuzzi and shower.
The Chalet floor of the Starlight River view cabin is perfect for a weekend escape to Monte Rio/Russian River. The cabin is filled with amazing amenities - hot tub, zero gravity chairs, rain + massage shower - nestled amongst red woods overlooking the river. The cabin is also dog friendly!
Dr. Joe was a very gracious host who spared no detail in explaining everything about his cabin. You can tell he truly cares about his guests and their well being by making himself available to answer any questions that might arise about the area or his cabin. He was great in all communication and was even flexible on Check In AND Check Out time. Thank you Dr. Joe for sharing your cabin and the great experience!
I was looking for a romantic and secluded chalet to celebrate an anniversary with my wife near the Russian River. We found RevDrJoe's Starlight River-View home in Monte Rio and we ended up having an extremely beautiful time. The chalet is modern and still retains its rustic and cozy feel. The bed is comfortable, the shower is out of this world, and the hot tub on the patio, surrounded by giant redwoods was exactly what we needed. The very private balcony was also great to sit and watch the river in the distance. It was all perfect. There was also a complimentary bottle of wine and gift basket left for us to enjoy.
When we arrived, Joe met us outside in the pouring rain and walked us through the home and pointed out all the amenities the chalet had to offer. He was also very helpful with his local recommendations. Joe was just an astounding host.
The most amazing getaway cabin! Loved every minute. Dr Joe welcomed us to his home and walked us through anything we may need to know during our stay. He made this weekend getaway so easy and so wonderful. Thank you Dr Joe :)
Overall, our experience was very positive and we would definitely return if given the opportunity.
Beautiful cottage: high ceilings, well lit, excellent wood tones, comfortable temperature, good-size balcony, relative privacy, many amenities.
Great service: Dr Joe met us for check-in and made us feel welcome by explaining the amenities and giving us a welcome package, lots of email communication before the trip with quick responses.
Things we didn't expect:
We knew it was a quiet community and we're happy being low key. If there are renters downstairs in the large cottage you may hear their normal conversations because the sound carries. We ended up having the entire place for 2 of the 3 days, so it worked out great, but I think it's something to be aware of. Dr Joe made this clear in his rules that it's a quiet community, though,. I recommend you read the house rules thoroughly and manage expectations.
We had a warm, cosy weekend at Starlight River Chalet. Host was very welcoming, met with us when we arrived and made sure we had enough propane when we said we were planning to BBQ. Great location just by Russian River making it a very nice change of scene from San Francisco / Peninsula where we were coming from. Yet close to downtown Guerneville where there is a supermarket. My friend very much enjoyed the hot tub. If sleeping on the sofa bed, it is in the living room which has no curtains or blinds, so would recommend an eyemask if you're light sensitive....we were there with our 1 year old so already woke up early!
Dr.Joe is a great host who is very attentive and knowledgeable of the area. When we arrived he greeted us with our own welcome basket filled with goodies.
The chalet itself is cozy - great for a couples gets away. The shower alone is worth coming for - it has so many different gadgets and knobs you want to stay in there forever.
