A lovely private tennis-and-beach getaway with lots of open land, set in Maibu's beloved Point Dume neighborhood. The clean, detached space has a homey feel, smart swing-out windows for fresh Malibu sea air, and the rooms have wi-fi, a large desk area, (great for writers), entertainment system, breakfast table, and a full kitchen. We have cultural touches inside the guest-house like the Beatles Anthology, complete cartoons of The New Yorker, a "Far Side" comics collection, and new and vintage books. Little Dume beach is a gem for surfers and general beachgoers alike, and ocean-lovers are also close to Zuma, El Matadar, County Line, etc. Also recommend exploring the back end of Mulholland highway, a serenely pastoral region that leads to wineries and displays the old, untouched Malibu, just like the tide pools and sea caves at Leo Carillo beach, or some of the secret hiking paths.
The property is near (and walkable to) quite a bit, including Sunlife Organics for great juices and smoothies as well as Cafecito Organico, a top fair-trade coffee roaster, and Duck Dive. Also many new places to eat.

Patricia knew that I would be getting ready for my wedding at this house and then spending my wedding night here. She went out of her way and was so kind in making it a special place! She had a bottle of champagne for us, there were bouquets of roses all around the place, and chocolates on the pillow. How wonderful! Thank you for making it a very special place to stay!
Patricia was an amazing host and her place was fantastic. The private beach is really unbeatable, but beyond that the guesthouse itself was very comfortable and we always felt like she was ready to help out with whatever we needed. Very highly recommended and we will clearly stay here again the next time we're in the area :)
This is the second time that my husband and I have stayed with Patricia, and our experience was just as magical as our first stay! Patricia, being the incredibly thoughtful host that she is, welcomed us with a warm hug and put out two bowls of beautiful fresh fruit and nuts (apples, bananas, berries, and almonds) for us in the guest house. I believe that she ordinarily provides freshly baked cookies to her guests, but she remembered that my husband and I do not eat sugar and love fresh fruit! Patricia and her husband are the nicest people! The guest house was as lovely and clean as ever, and we enjoyed walking down to the gated beach every day of our stay. If we can, we plan to make an annual "pilgrimage" to Patricia's Malibu guest house. It is such a special place!
Our experience can be summed up in one world...amazing. From the moment we arrived our hosts, Patricia and Jeff were the epitome of hospitality. They were accommodating whether we desired privacy or needed recommendations. Personally, we immediately bonded and felt more like family.
The cottage was very comfortable with amenities that made the the stay most enjoyable. The property is spacious with tennis courts and plenty of room to breath. We napped to cool breezes, wind chimes and birds chirping.
As for the cottage location, same word...amazing. The property is perched on the cliffs above the cove in Malibu's Point Dume. A short walk or drive down the hill and you reach the private beach. We sat for many hours on a rock overlooking the ocean and watched surfers at play. If you want to get a feel for what everyday life is like on Point Dume, this is it.
We had a wonderful time and would highly recommend this location . We will be back!
Thank you for a great vacation to our new friends, Patricia and Jeff.
I cannot say enough wonderful things about Patricia and her beautiful guest home. We were welcomed with fresh fruit and homemade cookies, then treated to a tour of the area that made Malibu come alive! Patricia is a fascinating person who knows the movie/television business, and she told us great stories and gave excellent recommendations for things to do, restaurants, etc. The private beach is spectacular, and an easy walk from the house. The home is clean and we slept each night in a place full of fresh ocean air. We hope to return again soon to this little oasis!
We had a wonderful time. Patricia's hospitality was excellent, she is very nice and helpful. She greeted us with chocolate chips cookies and fruit, even gave us a tour of Malibu. She is located in a very quiet area with clear night sky to see the stars, something you don't get in LA. Definitely felt more like being on an island than a city. The guest house was very clean and had a cozy home feel. She provided anything you would need, even a beach umbrella and chairs. Her dog is very sweet and we had no concern having our tiny pups play him. This was out first Airbnb and we loved it. We definitely want to come back and I'd recommend staying at Patricia's to anyone. She is an awesome host!
