A lovely private tennis-and-beach getaway with lots of open land, set in Maibu's beloved Point Dume neighborhood. The clean, detached space has a homey feel, smart swing-out windows for fresh Malibu sea air, and the rooms have wi-fi, a large desk area, (great for writers), entertainment system, breakfast table, and a full kitchen. We have cultural touches inside the guest-house like the Beatles Anthology, complete cartoons of The New Yorker, a "Far Side" comics collection, and new and vintage books. Little Dume beach is a gem for surfers and general beachgoers alike, and ocean-lovers are also close to Zuma, El Matadar, County Line, etc. Also recommend exploring the back end of Mulholland highway, a serenely pastoral region that leads to wineries and displays the old, untouched Malibu, just like the tide pools and sea caves at Leo Carillo beach, or some of the secret hiking paths.
The property is near (and walkable to) quite a bit, including Sunlife Organics for great juices and smoothies as well as Cafecito Organico, a top fair-trade coffee roaster, and Duck Dive. Also many new places to eat.
Many beach locations from classic and not so classic movies are all around for the film buff. NYTimes article '36 hrs in the 'bu' is our area. One block away, grocery, coffee shop, restaurants and new bookstore. Walk the beach, bike, or hike the mountain or have a game of tennis.

A gem. A tennis court. A key.
Staying out on Point Dume we kept pinching ourselves… we felt so lucky to be here.
The key allowed us to pass through private gates; which led us down a beautiful path of flowers, past a backyard vineyard; across a foot bridge, which opened onto the sea.
Iconic, empty, unspoiled; these private Malibu beach front entrances are yours while you stay at Patricia and Jeff’s air bnb.
Fresh flowers, berries and cookies greeted us upon our arrival and as soon as we got settled, Jeff gave us a quick tour in his SUV. We drove past a few celebrity homes and at the end of Greyfox and Cliffside, he showed us these magical private gates.
In our stay, we spent wonderful hours walking in Point Dume.
Reminiscent of the dramatic landscape of Big Sur; the trek through the winding sandy paths of the California State Park afforded us breathtaking coastal views.
We walked along the Malibu beaches to Paradise Cove for breakfast and to the Sunset for happy hour.
My husband was thrilled to play tennis on his “own court;" with Jeff and with a great tennis pro he recommended and against the ball machine.
We enjoyed the quiet at night and the restorative seclusion and beauty of Malibu.
At the end of day, it was great to return to our cozy kitchen and comfy bed; fresh towels and wide screen TV.
There is a market, coffee shop, post office and bookstore a short walk away.
Jeff from Montana and Patricia from Mississippi gave us a warm welcome and enough personal space to have a real getaway.
There are so many reasons we would love to visit again…
Patricia and her husband, Jeff, were the best hosts. We really enjoyed the 2 nights we stayed at their guest house and hope to stay there again in the future. The Point is a beautiful neighborhood and Malibu is so beautiful - I nice place to stay that is close enough to LA but away from the chaos. The guest house was clean, and Patricia went out of her way to offer so many sweet details.
I had a great experience at Patricia and Jeff's cottage. It is amazing, exactly as described and in one the best locations in Malibu. Its close to great organic cafes, a supermarket and a gastropub. They are lovely, welcoming and extremely helpful....truly wonderful hosts I highly recommend it!
Patricia's place is a cozy gem in my favorite neighborhood in Malibu. Its close enough to walk into town, a major plus and of course they key to the Riviera III beach is simply unrivaled!
Patricia takes extra care to make sure her guests are comfortable with snacks in the fridge and home baked cookies if you like. Her family is welcoming and made me feel like I belonged there.
great experience! I'll return for sure!
thanks Patricia for welcoming my dogs boys... they were so happy there!!
Patricia is a great host! Her guest house is quiet and peaceful.
Patricia was a wonderful host. She greeted us with warm cookies and a tour of the neighborhood, along with great recommendations for restaurants. She was also readily available if we needed her leading up to and during the trip to answer questions and ask how we were doing. The cottage was clean and cozy and completely comfortable, and had a large TV for movie watching as well as a wealth of good coffee table reading about the area. We enjoyed morning walks and runs around Point Dume park to view dolphins, sea lions, and whales and afternoons at the beach - with beach chairs, towels, etc. provided by Patricia. We ended up on Westward beach more than the private beach - both were lovely settings and a roughly equal walk from the house. For those that would rather drive, Westward also has parking, but we really loved the walk through the neighborhood and down the bluff to the beach. There is also hiking nearby in the mountains. One evening, we drove further along the Malibu coast only to realize that Point Dume is the most beautiful setting of all (and especially lovely as it is offset from the Pacific Coast Hwy). It really is a special place, and we were sad to leave so soon!
THE STAY AT PATRICIA'S & JEFF'S COTTAGE WAS GREAT
