For those who take the road less traveled, stay at our family’s nostalgic retreat in the Great Smoky Mountains. Accessible year-round and centrally located yet secluded, River Rest Cabin sits on 2 acres on the Little Pigeon River. A rare property surrounded only by a private farm, River Rest Cabin lives up to its name. Relax among the outdoor spaces, unwind in the hot tub, gather ‘round the fire pit, explore the river, get cozy by the fireplace, and discover your special place to truly get away.

The space
River Rest Cabin is a 2-acre riverfront property surrounded by a 50+ acre farm in the heart of the Great Smoky Mountains. Enjoy total privacy and seclusion while being convenient to Gatlinburg, Pigeon, Forge, and Sevierville.

Enjoy our private yet year-round accessible cabin with 2 bedrooms (king beds - one on main level and the other in loft bedroom upstairs) + queen sleeper sofa in living room. There are 2 full en-suite bathrooms. The two bedrooms sleep 4 adults very comfortably and the Queen pull out sleeper sofa sleeps 1 adult or 2 children at a maximum. We pride ourselves in providing quality linens and bedding on top of our 5-star mattresses and pillows.. you won’t want to leave! Fall asleep in the Loft Room to the sounds of the fireplace crackling down below or let the river rock you to sleep in the River Room on the main level. Down the road from where Dolly Parton grew up and in the middle of it all between Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, and Sevierville (Pittman Center area), this cabin was lovingly hand-built by the previous owner's father and remains as the ideal cabin to escape from the hustle and bustle of town. It was lovingly restored and renovated in early 2019 to give the cabin a vintage-inspired yet contemporary upgrade throughout so you can enjoy modern amenities with a rustic, cabin feel. Cozy, nostalgic vibes!

With easy access year-round (even in the Winter - flat roads to and from cabin), you can enjoy all 4 seasons! Hiking, fishing, whitewater rafting, tubing, sightseeing, swimming, shopping, snow skiing/ice skating at Ober Gatlinburg, Dollywood, walking downtown Gatlinburg, and the Greenbrier Entrance to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park are all nearby. Enjoy total privacy, the convenience of its central location, and the river all at the same time!

Perfect for a honeymoon, family vacation, or just a peaceful escape, the cabin features a large wraparound covered back porch, riverfront deck, and river access stairs where you can unwind and explore the river. Outside on the expansive yet flat 2 acre property, there are two picnic tables with views of the river, an outdoor dining table on the porch, all weatherproof outdoor furniture, outdoor propane gas grill for cookouts, horseshoe pit, bocce ball set, cornhole set, kayaks, river tubes, life jackets, and a fire pit + benches with string lights all around to enjoy time together telling stories and making s'mores night or day!

Inside, you will find a newly renovated interior with all new furniture/decor/upgrades, large gas fireplace built with locally sourced river rocks found right outside the cabin, open living room with cozy rocking chairs, new Restoration Hardware down queen sleeper sofa, full kitchen with KitchenAid appliances, reverse osmosis water system for the purest drinking water, water softener system throughout the house, loaded complimentary Keurig coffee bar, pantry staples, loft bedroom with King bed upstairs, 2nd bedroom on main level with King bed, 2 full bathrooms (1 upstairs shower and 1 downstairs combo tub/shower), towels/linens provided, washer + dryer, iron + ironing board, complimentary toiletries, propane grill, and a hot tub on its own private screened-in porch on the river!

Come visit a truly special property, River Rest Cabin, surrounded by nature where you can relax to the sounds of the river in the Great Smoky Mountains with a world of adventure at your doorstep!

Where you’ll be

Sevierville, Tennessee, United States

The Pittman Center area is a local secret and remains a backroad to get to Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, and Sevierville quickly without fighting traffic. You are surrounded by nature (no neighbors!) while being close to it all! Everything is accessible year-round in under 20 minutes. Greenbrier, another entrance to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, is ten minutes away and is the best place to enjoy hiking, fishing, and sight seeing without the traffic and overcrowding. River Rest Cabin is also on the same road Dolly Parton grew-up on, invoking her famed song, "Tennessee Mountain Home" when you drive onto the property.

As a Gatlinburg native, I grew up surrounded by the beauty of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. It wasn’t until I moved away to Texas in 2015 that I realized the mountains were such a major part of who I am. I had to have to place of my own to call home (and to have more reasons to visit!). I moved to San Antonio, Texas in 2015, when I married my husband, Clay. We had our daughter in 2018, and I wanted to have a place I could share with my family and friends that embodied my childhood in the Smokies. After visiting over the years, we finally decided to move back to Gatlinburg in the fall of 2020! We enjoy the cabin with our friends and family during vacancies, but we love sharing our magical place with our our guests.

How it came to be... By a stroke of pure luck, we found and quickly purchased River Rest Cabin from its original owner (it had never been sold before) and its ~2 acres in the fall of 2018. It was like winning the lottery! I must have driven past it thousands of times during my childhood. It was the perfect cure for my unrelenting homesickness when we lived in Texas! It is also a special place where I want our kids to enjoy and appreciate nature, have year-round adventures, experience my mountain community, learn how to protect our National Parks and our planet, and explore all the beauty surrounding my hometown, Gatlinburg, TN. It's true what they say... the mountains are calling and the river leads home to River Rest Cabin!
