Hi , It is an older house, but cozy! It is on Puget Sound on Colvos Passage in Gig Harbor. Water front hot tub, and we have about 250 ft of waterfront, but there is about 3 miles of beach to walk on without seeing any houses.
There are two bathrooms, one upstairs without a shower , and a full bathroom w/ tub/shower downstairs. Full kitchen that you are welcome to use. The house has one main "master" bedroom facing the sound with King size bed, and another bedroom with a Queen size bed. The house has two loft spaces that are accessed via ladders, one loft has a single futon and the other a queen size futon. There is also a large couch and two smaller ones. This house is a bit dated as it is a fixer upper that we purchased and are in the process of a DIY remodel, a slow go and this airbnb thing helps out! Do not expect a four star hotel here, or a high end "vacation rental", this is a house that is lived in, with pictures of us on the wall, and a few stains on the older carpet... but regardless of that pretty sweet place in a great location. We own three lots here so about 250 feel of waterfront. Beyond that to the North, there is about 2-3 miles of beach without homes, so great area to hang out. There is one neighbor, a quiet lady who keeps to herself. We have a nice hot tub, and laundry, dishwasher, that you are also free to use. Property has a very Steep drive so it is not very good for rear wheel drive or motorcycle access, however there is a large landing that those sorts of vehicles can park. It's about 5 min outside of downtown (old town) Gig Harbor WA. KIDS LOVE THIS HOUSE, and we have fishing rods for you and them to use! ** If you plan to stay with small children please consider the potential of them getting hurt , as the bulkhead is a potential fall hazard as is the ladders going to the lofts, not to mention the wood stoves or hot tub. We do require a signed liability release if you plan on having children under the age of 18 years old. Good luck in your search and we are hear to answer any questions you might have. Larry & Camilla
ps: There are 4 kayaks here for your use.
You can use entire house, aside from two storage rooms and the office in the house that have the doors shut. Key will be provide as well as a detailed document explaining how to get to property.
Interaction with Guests
We are not home during stays, however we are within an hour if need be. We have a house in Seattle that we stay at when this house is rented out.
It is very quiet, about a half mile drive from the road to get to property.
Easy access to old town Gig Harbor. The house is about 45 min to Seattle in good traffic, and about 25 min to downtown Tacoma in good traffic. There is a bridge that is a toll bridge that costs $5 to cross.
Other Things to Note
**Please note that if you are a very picky person, this property is not for you. There is work to be done on this property. It is not 5 star hotel quality, but it is VERY clean and nice.
We will only refund money with at least 24 hours notice.
**We require a signed liability release from ALL guests who will be visiting our home.
** As mentioned. If you plan to stay with small children please consider the potential of them getting hurt , as the bulkhead is a potential fall hazard as is the ladders going to the lofts, not to mention the wood stoves or hot tub. One loft access if from a bedroom, some might consider this an issue.
Smoke outside. Pets ok: dogs, cats. Clean up after yourself and leave place as you found please. Check in time is usually around 3pm, and check out is around noon. We are very flexible with these times, so just let us know if you would like to change them.
**US OPEN Guests: Our weekly rate during the US Open is $3,000.00. This will include a fully stocked bar.
This place was awesome -- great waterfront deck, warm hot tub, cozy place. The long driveway down is steep, so make sure your car can handle it!
Camilla and Larry were great hosts. They left us wine and made sure we had directions and everything we needed for our stay. The place was beautiful and we had a great weekend. Everything was in the condition that was described. It took us some time to figure out how to turn off the bright lights in the living room, as well as work the hot tub. The ladders for the loft are very steep, but the beds upstairs are nice and comfy. I wish we had time to use the kayaks and explore the water some more. All together the place was great and I definitely recommend it.
The place was pretty much exactly as described. We felt very welcome as we were invited to use the kayaks, fishing poles, food and wine, and there were plenty of extra towels and all the beds were cozy. The hot tub was always very hot. The kids loved the lofts, although they were pretty scared of them at first. Between the lofts, the steep driveway, and the small cliff you had to carry the kayaks down to use them, this place is not for the paranoid, but fun for the adventurous.
This place would be absolutely phenomenal in the summer, with the grill, lots of outdoor seating overlooking the water, and the beach to play on. Unfortunately we stayed there during a particularly cold new year's, and were a bit unprepared for how cold it was inside the house, how long the walk was to the hot tub, and the lack of a dining room where more than two people could sit inside at a table. None of this would have been a problem in the summer, but we did have a chillier couple days than expected.
A beautiful location and cozy home. Larry and Camilla were very responsive and welcoming. A couple notes:
* Climbing the ladders for the two loft spaces can be a little daunting, and one loft space is accessed through the queen bedroom.
* One couch is large enough to sleep on, the others are not.
* The beach is not accessible when the tide is in.
Overall a beautiful location and fun stay.
It was a great house and the hosts were wonderful. They made us Apple bread and gave us a bottle of wine (a nice gesture that I appreciated). The view of the water was wonderful. Having a fully stocked kitchen was great for cooking meals. I almost couldn't get my van up the hill leaving the house, so just be aware of that and bring a car that will handle that well.
Hosts communicated well and were honest about the state of the house (work in progress). We only stayed for one night, in and out but no problems. They were great about taking care of giving good directions and options for parking due to steep driveway. The guys took the kayaks for a spin due to great weather. We didn't have time to test out the hot tub. I would just say that the house is really a 2 bedroom with 2 small lofts, one attached to the small bedroom. Best for two couples or a family with children that are big enough to climb the loft ladders. Thank you
