The Space

Located very close to Greenwich and Blackheath, this lovely bright room is the largest in the house, with two windows, a very comfortable double bed and a small sofa. There is plenty of storage. Downstairs is a Shower room with power shower, which is shared with two others and also a bathroom. The room has an iron/ironing board and kettle for tea/coffee and a hairdrier. There are electric adaptors for anyone with foreign plugs, shoe brushing kit and luggage scales, so you don't need to pack any of this. There is wireless broadband and a clock radio/iPod dock/charger are also included. Fresh towels are provided (free of charge) although some people prefer to use their own. For anyone traveling "super light" with hand luggage only, I can provide shampoo/shower gel/toothpaste etc, so all you have to bring is your toothbrush. Please request this in advance. There is a "help yourself" breakfast of cereal, toast and tea/ coffee included in the price. As I am a professional opera singer, and antique dealer, you will be sharing my house with a grand piano (you may hear it occasionally) and some really nice antiques. Please note that there is no smoking in the house, but you are welcome to smoke in the garden. There is a microwave for you to heat up meals if you prefer not to eat out all the time. Travel is amazing - Ladywell station is moments away, with London Bridge only 16 mins (with its connections to the underground system) and Charing Cross or Cannon St only 22 mins. The DLR is one stop away at Lewisham. Greenwich is a seven-minute bus ride, and the DLR will take you to Stratford in less than half an hour. There are loads of night buses too for those late nights! There is free parking in the nearby roads night time and from Friday evening until Early on Monday morning, As I work full time, I can't always be at home for your arrival, but if I'm not, I can leave you a key outside, as there is a key safe. Full instructions will be given after booking is confirmed. I am looking forward to making you welcome! I also have another room available, so check that out too. Its heading is "Well located charming and comfortable".

  • I was living at Allan's for 6 weeks (may/june) and totally enjoyed my stay.
He's the best host you could imagine: very kind, funny and helpful, always there for a little chat in the kitchen (the place you probably will see him the most) but still lets you the feeling of being independent.
The house is just lovely: a typical old victorian building - packed with antiques and art - has a reeeally well-equipped kitchen and it's absolutely good-located: right next to the (southeasternrailway-)station 'Ladywell' and some bus-stops like 'wearside road' or 'lewisham fire sation'.
My room was bright, comfortable, with muchmuch space for my stuff and a waterboiler, so I could drink coffee in bed at the weekends...what a luxury! :P
I will definately recommend him to all my friends and come back, if I'll have the chance to trip over London again shortly - what I really hope!

  • I actually had my brother and sister stay with Allan and they had a nice time in his comfortable home. It's literally a stonethrow away from the Ladywell station which brings you directly to London's city centers.

  • Allan is a very good host, very organised and detailed. I stayed in his home for more than 3 weeks, the room and the decoration is exactly the same as the photos shown. The house location is very good and near the train to go to the city centre, it's totally no problem for even me this foreigner to stay such a long time! Allan got a good very taste and you will find a lot of treasures here! Highly recommend for those who love antiques as for sure Allen could share some of his ideas on this.

  • Allan is a wonderful host and his home is fantastic! A super stylish and eclectic house with lots of nice touches in the room to make your stay a dream. The location is safe and convenient for varied forms of transport. Hot power shower day and night, decent breakfast provided and last but not least Allan, charming, informative, friendly but never intrusive. I would most definitely stay here again.

  • Allan is a wonderful host making us feel welcome and comfortable in his beautiful home. He is an extremely interesting and well-informed person and it is just a pity our busy schedule did not allow us to chat further with him.
For anyone travelling by train, the house could not be better positioned, being opposite the station.
We would be extremely happy to stay with Allan again and would certainly recommend this host and home to other members.

  • My boyfriend and I had a wonderful time in Allan's house. I had to stay for ten days in London because I was auditioning for several music colleges and Allan has been really helpful and he let me practice on his (great) grand piano whenever I had to.
The house and the bedroom are beautiful and cosy. We were able to use the kitchen so we didn't have to eat outside all the time which is a great thing when you stay for longer than a few days.
We really felt at home and I would recommend this place to anybody who would like to experience living like a proper Londoner. The transports to central London are great and the rail station is literally across the road which is fantastic!
Allan, thank you for everything and I hope we'll meet another time in the future.

  • Allan was such a great host. The room and place was exactly as described and SO easy to find. It literally is right across the street from the Ladywell stop so I found it very easy to get out everyday to sight see. Thanks again for being such a gracious host Allan!

  • Allan was a top host, friendly easy to talk too with excellent support right from the start of booking until we left, he still is providing us with details of places to see and go .his knowledge of London and recommendations on places to visit helped our stay His apartment is well located with the train literally across the road and bus service around the corner. Handy shops within walking distance. The train had us in Central London 15 min.
Allan made us feel very welcome and comfortable in our stay. The room has a nice comfortable bed with our own kettle and tea and coffee , shared bathroom no waiting worked well. Good wifi set up which assisted in our travel arrangements . Would highly recommend staying and will definitely stay again. Well done Allan mate hope fully if you get over our way we can look after you.

  • I stayed with Allan for 10 days as soon as I arrived in the UK. He was an incredible host and made me feel incredibly welcome. Was always up for a chat and gave me plenty of advice about the local area, London and the rest of Europe. An absolutely charming gentleman, such a shame I wasn't there longer. The room was lovely, the bed was very comfortable and breakfast was delightful. Will definitely be back!

  • Had a very pleasant stay with Allan!I am a londoner myself but had to stay at Allan's for a while as I had been in the middle of moving,so finding a place that felt like home was essential.Living in Allan's house is exactly as described by others-it is fantastic and inspiring, would say that the place itself is healing.Indeed it is a clean and extremely friendly environment coupled with interesting people to talk to.Also there is plenty of space to move around hence you never have the feeling that your privacy is compromised.Walls are well isolated, which is a rarity in London.Would recommend Allan and his lovely abode to anyone, everyone!
