On our arrival Edwin was welcoming and happy to share knowledge about tourist sites and pubs for a meal nearby. This is a country stay with rural views and in a quiet location. Breakfast was self serve and included farm fresh eggs, home made fresh bread, a choice of spreads, yoghurt, muesli, fruit, juice and tea or coffee, delicious! We enjoyed our stay in Rathdrum.
Had a great time in Fiona and Edwins place. Great base to explore Wicklow and friendly chickens to look at when you get back to you cabin!
Edwin and Fiona were lovely hosts, very welcoming and friendly. The Cabin was beautiful with private bathroom and great views. Thoroughly recommend staying here if passing though. Thank you very much for having me!
Fiona, our host was very pleasant and helpful, providing us with information on the activities in the area.
Our breakfast supplies were more than ample and had a great range, including fresh eggs, real bread, organic yoghurt, and excellent condiments.
The accommodation was comfortable and warm, although provided little space to put our clothes and travel items. The shower was more than adequate and our host supplied shower gel.
The cooking facilities, which comprised of a few electric hot plates, toaster and kettle, are housed in a separate cabin which also contained the washing machine and table and chairs for two. There is no dryer.
The parking was off street and adequate for our small vehicle.
The village of Rathdrum is within a couple of minutes drive and provides a few alternate places for evening meals.
All in all we found it a pleasant place to spend a few nights.
Thanks for your helpful review Kerry and Rees, we'll definitely work something out about the storage. Just a note for future guests, we dry all our laundry in our polytunnel and guests are welcome to use that facility. It is slower than a dryer but has a lighter carbon footprint.
Fiona & Edwin were wonderful hosts! I would highly recommend staying a few nights at their cabin if you're traveling across Ireland as I was. It is such a relaxing and serene break from the busier cities. The cabin itself was fairly large, lots of natural light, and windows to crack and allow the breeze to wash through. It was so pleasant. The breakfast provided was outstanding and a nice welcome since there aren't too many breakfast cafes close by. Also, take all their recommendations for places to hike and eat!
