The Space

This is the perfecting chilling space. Breathtaking views, very comfortable, quiet, relaxing and easy. Set on a hill surrounded by orange groves and valleys, this is the perfect spot for exploring the eastern Algarve. We have a 4 bedroomed villa in two acres of land, with gardens, a swimming pool and an area that we cultivate for vegetables.

We have a new swimming pool since January 2013. It now has a bubble seat and roman steps leading into the pool.

Two of our bedrooms are available. The price is per room for 1 or 2 people. One room has a separate bathroom, with shower and bath. The second bedroom is next to a wet room. There is a fridge available for guests. All doors and windows have bug screens. The main areas of the house have AC and the bedrooms have fans. The house has original art and is tastefully decorated with an extensive library of books.
We provide cereal, fresh bread and or fruit, yogurt and fresh squeezed orange juice, coffee or tea for breakfast, which can be taken outside if you prefer, near the pool, overlooking the valleys and hills.

We have olive and carob trees and a dry garden with native plants. The house is easy to find and accessible.

Just 8km from Tavira, we overlook the Asseca valley. 3km away is the only waterfall in the Algarve. The beach is 6km away. There are well laid walks and those that are still fairly secret in the area.
We can provide packed lunches. We also have bikes for exploring and will share lots of local knowledge. We have covered parking for cars and can accommodate tents and a camper van as well as bicycles. The Tour de Algarve cycle race passes the bottom of our hill so its a great place to tour by car or on a bike.
Its probably best to have transport, but there is a bar at the bottom of the hill and a good restaurant is walkable (20mins).

We have lots of interests. Sue is a writer and writes about , growing and travel (website hidden) Check out her pages to see more about the area. Jim is a retired computer consultant and plays tennis and reads. We are both relaxed and enjoy life!

Encore merci!

  • The stopover at Jim and Sue's was amazing on several accounts. Firstly, the house was quite beautiful. Jim and Sue have made a beautiful house surrounded by hundreds of plants. Most of them edible! :) The house is planted in the middle of beautiful mountains and offers a pool for the hot days.

Secondly, Jim and Sue were among the the nicest people we met on our trip. They offered brilliant suggestions for meals, beaches, and places to shop. Conversations were happy and always informative. Simply a pleasure to meet. Thank you.

  • We had a 3 night stay in Jim & Sue’s clean & comfortable house. They were friendly, interesting & helpful and made us fresh fruit & juice for breakfast every day. It’s a lovely quiet environment with views over the Asecca Valley and Tavira & Moncarapacho are very accessible by car. Breakfast in the garden was a lovely way to start the day. Good people.

  • Jim and Sue were fantastic hosts. Their home was beautiful, luxurious and they genuinely welcomed us. We could use their swimming pool, wander around their garden and relax in their living areas. They were generous with their local knowledge and even gave us a walking tour around town. They're about a 10 min drive from the main town and so are surrounded by the pretty countryside of carob trees and orange groves. We didn't have a car but they leant us bikes so we could get around and even offered us lifts when they were going into town. Breakfasts were gorgeous and healthy. We would highly recommend staying here if you are visitng tavira.

Hello we are, Jim & Sue, who live in a beautiful home within two acres of land. We live in one of the most beautiful parts of the Algarve. Our home overlooks a valley and we see hills and valley's all around. Its a great place to explore. We can provide information if you are a walker or cyclist. The rooms are comfortable and have private bathrooms. We have olive and carob trees and grow our own vegetables. The closest town is Tavira, which is about 6 km away. The sea is about the same distance. We are a relaxed couple with lots of interests, including reading, singing (Jim), tennis, yoga and gardening. We are both computer savvy. We have just spent 6 weeks in Brazil We both love books and Sue blogs about books (website hidden) Sue paints and writes. We are use to people in the house and enjoy having people stay as we have had many workaways helping us in the garden. You can see the great reviews of us on workaway http://www.workaway.inf(phone number hidden)d3-en.html such as Well....What can we say about about our experience .We arrived in the Algarve for 2 weeks with Jim and Sue but to be honest could have stayed all winter.Their hospitality was second to none.Their place was in tranquil surroundings, beautiful views and friendly people. We felt like one of the family only after a few days. They fed us with fantastic food and took us to all manner of places. If you get the chance to help these guys out with their home jump at the chance.(you wont regret it).Left feeling we have made 2 good friends and will pop in to see them on our way through to Spain. And I stayed here for a month, gardening and doing some housework, and I had a great and nourishing time. My application was a bit of a last minute thing and it was great how Sue and Jim allowed arrangements to be made quickly. They made me feel so welcome right from the off and of course their luxurious home and beautiful setting helped! They have varied grounds and interesting plans (and a fantastic view) and they’re very open to sharing their knowledge and hearing your ideas. I felt very trusted to get on with the tasks and to take initiative to do whatever I could see was needed. This of course was when I wasn’t busy recovering after eating the glorious and plentiful food! Both hosts are great cooks and we ate like emperors. Time off was also great with our hosts taking us out on trips to local events and the attractions of the area; there are bikes to borrow, village with a quaint bar nearby, Tavira within easy range is attractive and has a fantastic beach, and the hosts have loads of ideas and help on things to do. The month was full of lovely experiences – I haven’t yet got over being able to blog whilst relaxing by the pool, and enjoyed among many other things, planting my first potatoes, building a stone circle and enjoying the company of the other workawayers that came along. I thoroughly recommend Sue and Jim as hosts! There are many more great reviews. As we enjoyed having workaways we thought we would offer B&B
