The space

Location location location. The perfect compact spot for a visitor who wants to easily access all of Dublin city centre. This is a cosy small double room with private attached deck / roof terrace in newly-restored redbrick artisan house in the best location in the Dublin city centre. The room is bright and quiet and you have shared use of the shower room. The bed is 4'6" (standard double). There's a nice terrace/deck accessed directly from the guestroom. Broadband internet. Walk to St Stephen's Green in less than 10 minutes and Temple Bar in 6 minutes.

Host is a well-travelled gay man. I speak (with varying degrees of fluency!) English, Spanish, Italian and French. I can advise on cultural and entertainment options. Help yourself to coffee (Nespresso I'm afraid, the Gaggia keeps breaking :)) or a glass of wine. I love living here, both for the house and the convenience of being right in the heart of things, while on a very quiet street.

You will not need to get a taxi anywhere in the city centre when staying here. The 747 airport bus leaves you 4 minutes walk from front door and usually takes about 25/30 minutes. The house is very cosy in winter (well-insulated!). The interior is all-white and mixes contemporary fittings with some period touches. The floors upstairs are the originals (restored) and there are Edwardian/Victorian fireplaces.

I can provide on street parking permits where necessary.

There are lovely cafes (Cafe Noto, Fumbally, Queen of Tarts, Mannings) nearby. The best local pub (possibly the best pub in Dublin) is Fallons. You are 10 minutes walk from all that Dublin City Centre has to offer.

There are buses and trains to all outlying areas should you wish to explore - Malahide, Howth, Dalkey, Bray and Greystones are within easy reach. The Phoenix Park is a 15 minute walk away.

Please feel free to help yourself to breakfast. There is coffee, a selection of teas, bread, eggs, fruit, granola and cereals.

Help yourself to alcohol - whether you prefer a beer, a G&T or a glass of Malbec of NZ Sauvignon blanc, there should be something to suit your tastes :)

Céad Mile Fáilte (One Hundred Thousand Welcomes - in Gaelic)

Guest access

Guest bedroom. Terrace/deck off guest room. Shared shower room. Nespresso coffee machine. Help yourself to alcohol or anything else within reason.

Interaction with guests

We enjoy meeting new people, and are happy to chat. We also understand that people generally want to see and experience as much as they can when on a short visit to Dublin.

The neighborhood

I love this area. Trinity College is a ten minute walk. as is Grafton Street and Camden St. The location cannot be beaten. I love my street as it is friendly and tree-lined. The convenience is key. Love being able to walk everywhere, and feeling part of history in Dublin's most historic residential quarter.

Getting around

Everything in the city centre is within walking distance. The DART (suburban train) is a 15 minute walk away, the LUAS (tram, both red and green lines) are 10 minutes walk. Heuston Station is 15 minutes walk - for regional trains. Cross city buses (I never use them) are less than 5 minutes away.

Other things to note

This listing is suitable for the young or young at heart. The shower room is shared. Wifi is excellent. The room is a small double with a small amount of hanging storage space and a full length mirror. The terrace is a major bonus for the guest room!

Please be aware that this is my home. There are books, magazines and other personal items available for your house. I stayed at Daragh's and Edgar's place for two nights own my own - it's a fantastic place regarding location, room (with a lovely terrace, all quiet) communication and simply everything. I felt at home right away and couldn't have imagined any better place. Would return any time. Thank you both!

My partner and I wanted a location close to the city center as we were not spending a lot of time in Dublin and this location was perfect for being in the center of the city. Although we did not get a chance to meet Daragh, we met his husband, Edgar who was very kind and shared his knowledge of the city. However, we felt that when we arrived the house was a bit smaller than described and there were few amenities. The noise easily traveled throughout the house and we felt there was little privacy due to that. The place was a bit messy when we first arrived but we assumed this was out of the ordinary as the house was very clean when we checked out the next day. Overall, this is not a bad place if you're looking for a budget Airbnb close to all the shops, public transportation and landmarks.

Daragh and Edgar were really friendly! They offered us many suggestions in things to do, pubs, and places to eat. On our first night they even sat down with us for some drinks and to chat. I would recommend staying with them when in Dublin.

Daragh and Edgar were fantastic hosts. Very flexible and responsive. They made me feel very welcome in their home. They are lively, friendly, funny - I felt like I made new friends! Upon arrival they provided me a map of the city and gave a ton of recommendations based on what I was interested in. Even invited me for a homemade dinner - which was delicious! Their place is a little off the tourist-beaten path, which was perfect for me. All the places I wanted to go (Temple Bar, Trinity College, Guinness Storehouse, etc) I walked to, easily and safely. The room itself is small, enough for a bed and some bags. There is a great balcony/deck off of the bedroom. I would recommend staying here, it was lovely.

Hello. I am a mid thirties professional living in Dublin city centre, I have lived abroad and love to travel. My interests include cooking, cinema, reading and spending time with friends. I love having people over for dinner and meeting new people. I also love eating out.

Of the places I have visited for pleasure, I especially loved Bali, Brazil, Bolivia, Laos and Japan. I really enjoy meeting people when I travel she getting local recommendations. I love all of Italy and New York City. I love reading anything set in India. My monthly book club is something I really look forward to.

I have really enjoyed meeting new people through Airbnb. I am pretty passionate about Dublin, and like to share all the places that I think are special with visitors. Dubliners can be the most friendly people in the world!
