When we decorated our cabin we chose to buy most everything second hand (except pillows etc...) Reduce. Reuse. Recycle. Refurbish. Reinvent! This adorable cabin away from home is comfortable tranquil and unique.
Our cabin is our home away from home and we would love to share it's eclectic and comfortable charm with you. We spent many months collecting items from all over to decorate with character and uniqueness using only second hand items as a way of recycling. It was a challenge for ourselves and we love how it all came together! Our goal was to mix vintage elegance with rustic elements.
There are 2 bedrooms and a loft that can sleep 5 folks comfortably and one bathroom. The living space is open and a great space to sit by the fire or around the dining table for a game of cards.
One of our favorite pastimes while at the cabin is rocking on the front porch with a cup of coffee!
*Note: It feels odd to have to mention this; for folks who use AirBNB, you will understand and for those new to AirBNB, we would love to share this space with you, but as mentioned before, it is our "home away from home" and it is not like a hotel. There is food in the cabinets and we keep some of our personal things here as well. The space is clean and ready for guests at all times and it will feel clean, cozy and at home.
Our kitchen is full of most amenities although we do not have a microwave.
Interaction with Guests
We will not be at the cabin upon your arrival but will be available by phone if you have any questions. There is very little/ no cell service but there is a land line at the cabin if you need to each us.
The cabin is located in the popular Aska Adventure Area of Blue Ridge GA on a private wooded acre+1/2 with so many activities only a couple of miles away. We are minutes away from the Benton McKaye and Appalachian Trails, the Toccoa River public access and canoe and tubing rentals and very close multiple water falls. There are many opportunities for tubing, fishing, kayaking, hiking, shopping, dining, geocaching, swimming, boating and relaxing.
There is no public transportation and you will need a vehicle to get around.
*Allergy Alert: Although we do not allow guests to bring their pets, when we visit our cabin we bring our dogs.
Please, no smoking indoors. Please leave the cabin as neat and clean as you found it.
Our family of four had a fine time at this snug and charming cabin in the woods. It's rustic in all the right places, but modern where it needs to be, with a well-stocked kitchen, powerful gas stove, and central heat that kept us warm in the depths of February. There are no mountain views, but good opportunities for walks and jogs on Aska Road, and it's close enough to good hiking trails. Design nerds will love the thoughtful interior, tricked out with well-curated thrift store finds that lend a whimsical neo-Victorian vibe without getting too fancy about it: think Kelly Wearstler at Jellystone. Inga and Jennifer were welcoming and professional. We hope to come back in warmer months and hang out on the spacious side porch.
My boyfriend and I, as well as another couple, chose to stay at this cabin for our New Years trip. We had an amazing time. The cabin was beautifully decorated, and Inga and Jennifer were just wonderful with making sure we made the most of our visit. We were able to enjoy some great music on New Years with their amazing record player and records. The cabin was only a short drive away from the town, and everything that area had to offer. We took some great photos of the surrounding area, and delved into the forest area to collect some of natures treasures. It was truly a fun and relaxing trip.
What a wonderful trip we had. The cabin was beautiful and my fiancé and I truly enjoyed the location and privacy. We were able to go hiking daily and went horseback riding! It was my first time staying in blue ridge but it certainly won't be the last! And with the peace and cleanliness of Inga and Jennifer's wonderful cabin we hope to stay there again! And Thank you so much for your list of activities in the area on the fridge it was very nice of you and so helpful! Thank you again ladies we had an amazing time!!
The way this cabin seems to be set up is that it's used by both paying and non paying guests. There's a big list of dos and don'ts for non paying guests but there's no instruction for paying guests such as how to turn the fire on, how to get the internet or stove working. As there's no phone reception, we had to drive over 10 miles into town to ask for help. It's great that there is such a retreat for non paying guests, but for the money we paid, this felt like staying in someone's home, complete with all of their stuff around that we're not welcome to use (their food filling the cupboards and fridge freezer, lip balms, shoes, clothes, tons of toiletries in the bath that are not clear if we can use or not, nothing was especially for us). Overall, a lot more can be done to make paying guests feel catered for and feel like the hosts appreciated our business.
Those who are familiar with AirBNB realize that it is an entirely different experience than staying in a hotel. It is a true log cabin in the woods and as mentioned in our listing, this cabin is our "home away from home" so there are non-perishables in the cabinets and personal items that we leave in the space but it is always clean and ready for guests. There is a great deal of information on the fridge regarding the workings of the cabin and things to do locally for both our friends and family as well as AirBNB guests and we are always reachable by phone (there is not much cell service, but we have a land line in the cabin).
Inga and Jennifer were great hosts and have a lovely cabin. It was everything we were hoping for on our anniversary getaway.
We love to travel using AirBNB; it gives us the opportunity to really experience an area as a local rather than a tourist! Inga is professional photographer and Jennifer is a tax accountant from Atlanta, GA. We can't wait to meet you!
