The Space

Fabulous East London location!

Hello, before making a request, please write us first and tell us about yourself and your trip and wait for us to reply. We choose to know about our guests as this is our home and we cannot accept any booking before we know who you are.

Perfect for a visiting couple or small family.
This is a very quiet house so not ideal for party-people unfortunately. Fantastic transport links!

Large king size bedroom available in a gorgeous 2 bedroom 1400 sq ft loft shared with a filmmaker couple (we have the other bedroom).

There is a super friendly and city-wise oriental shorthair cat living here who has actually traveled around the world with me.

I am an artist so there are many objects and materials around to spark your imagination. My home is also my workspace. It won't be sparse like a hotel, there will probably be a work of art or two in progress during your stay and you'll see an odd assortment of things, but you'll have plenty of space!

There are quirks as it is a loft in an old factory, but that makes it charming. It is however centrally heated with modern appliances, so very comfortable.

You can see a photo of both beds in the same room, the air bed is only there on request for larger bookings. Otherwise, stretch out and do some yoga! :)

Smoking allowed on the balcony with a great view!

Love London!

• Capacious and relaxing 3rd floor furnished archetypal warehouse apartment with character and abundant natural light.
• Large bedroom with morning sun
• One modern bathroom with two sinks, shower and bath.
• Original wooden floors (a bit squeaky :-D), exposed brick and large steel frame windows
• Large southwest facing balcony with BBQ, plants, herbs and shrubs.
• Modern kitchen with with high quality appliances throughout: gas cooker and electric oven, cookware, dishwasher, washing machine, fridge/freezer, Gaggia grinder and espresso machine, vacuum cleaner, etc

Located on a quiet Whitechapel street with small parks either side of property

Sorry but there is not a lift in the building. This flat is on the 3rd floor, but the stairways are quite wide and there is a security buzzer for remote entry.

Guest Access

What you get:
• One large bedroom with king bed (sleeps 2)
• Optional deluxe large airbed (sleeps 2)
• Massive flatscreen smart TV w/Netflix account

Interaction with Guests

Cem and I sleep in the other bedroom, but we have very busy lives and are usually not in the apartment much during the day. Occasionally we have made family meals with our guests, which is always fun. Just let us know your needs and wishes.

The Neighborhood

Whitechapel has been for a long time a multicultural neighborhood perhaps best known for being the location of the infamous Jack the Ripper murders in the late 1880s. Other famous residents are: Jack London, George Bernard Shaw, Vladimir Ilyich Lenin, The "Elephant Man", Joseph Carey Merrick, Today, its residents are of varied ethnic, primarily Bangladeshi and Pakistani origin.

There are still many fabric traders and market stalls selling fresh fish, exotic produce and handmade goods from the East.

  • Very pleasant stay at Blair's loft. We were 4 friends going to London for 2 days, one night. The room is spacious enough for 4 and sharing the apartment with our hosts was easy. Blair and her husband made us feel like at home and we felt very welcome. There was plenty of choice for breakfast and it was very nice to have breakfast with this amazing view of London! The DLR is only 5 minutes walk and the tube a little bit more, one little thing to have in mind: the works closure at week-end (we get stuck saturday morning with the DLR). Just think to check it before travelling. Overall, a positive experience, thank you for your warm welcome :).

  • We had a great stay at Blair's place. She's a superb host and saved my graduation ceremony thanks to her improvisation skills. I wish we'd have had more time to talk to her but this at least leaves occasion for another visit sometime in the future. I can definitely recommend her charming place to all the people who look for something more than just a sterile hotel room.

  • Blair and her partner Cem are excellent hosts, they made our experience a very pleasant stay. They were always helpful and friendly. The room is large and comfortable, the apartment simply amazing. It is very well located in a upcoming and trendy area, but in a quiet street. it is close to the city center and to the public transport. Plus, the view from the window is breathtaking. I would definitely recommend Blair's place and I will come back for sure!

  • Super accommodating & friendly hosts, who shared their great space with us throughout our stay. Brilliant location, with a vibrant atmosphere. The recommended Pakistani restaurant, Tayyabs, was well worth a visit, especially for the lamb chops, and really cheap.

    Thanks again!

  • We would like to thank Blair and Cem for the trustful assigment of their super cool flat. We havent had the opportunity to meet both in person, nevertheless the handover was very easy & smart. This is indeed a vibrant area of london.
    Cheers Jochen

  • Both Blair and cem were very accommodating hosts and very supportive towards my family and I as we had not visited London before!!
Blair was always interested in our intended daily activities and readily offered her advise on transport and what other attractions could easily be included into our itinerary
The property is very querky but nice and very homely. There was plenty of space to put our food in the kitchen ready for the making of each days lunches.
Our personal room was very nice although it would have been perfection to have some storage to enable me to unpack the suitcase.
My seven year old son made very good friends with Moa the cat. A very good time was had by all.

  • We've known only Cem because Blair was working in another Country. Cem's been very gentle and pleasent with us! Thank you Cem ;) The home is very nice: beds, bathroom and kitchen all very confortable. The position is perfect, very close to the Underground and, for the persons who love libraries, is very very close to the fantastic Ideastores. We'd like to return as soon as possible!

  • The location and the space was as described on the website and Blair was a generous and nice host however i was unaware and it was never outlined that we would be sharing the apartment with Blair. after a 32 hour flight with three young children from New Zealand we were all expecting to have a place to crash out in and get over our jet lag while enjoying a bit of london - instead we were having to be conscious of others in the apartment. i have booked other properties through airbnb throughout Europe and this has never been the situation in others. for this reason i think it should be clear from the outset that this is a "Shared" two bedroom apartment. We were four people in a bedroom with one double bed and another double inflatable bed squeezed in ,. i had presumed that i would put two of my children on two of the couches in the very large living room , something i guess i should have clarified from the outset as this was not going to be achieved when sharing the space with others. I also felt it a shame that i had to spend time cleaning clogged hair out of the bath plug hole in order to get the plug to fit for my children to have a bath. We did enjoy the space and location and Blair was a really nice person.

    Response from Blair:

Hi Chris, we thought you and your children were lovely too and sorry you didn't understand that it is a shared apartment. One can easily do a search for just a 'private' apartment. It says 'shared', not 'private' on the listing, it also says it directly in the description: "shared with another couple", even states that we have one bedroom and you have the other. I even further describe that there are 2 beds in one room where 4 people can share one room and lastly I show photos of the room with both beds in it. Most reviews I have mentioned me also being in the apartment so I think I have exhausted every avenue in making sure that people understand. I do agree that it would have been better for you to have some privacy after such a long flight, but in my one year + on AirBNB you are the only guest I have had that did not realise you would be sharing with me. I am sincerely sorry however that you didn't get the experience you were expecting.

  • I had a perfect Airbnb experience with Blair and Cem's place! They are such warm and friendly hosts and we had many great conversations. The room is full of light and has a comfortable bed. Blair and Cem are very generous with the use of the kitchen and provisions etc. They are great flexible communicators and kindly worked out an arrangement for me to pick up a key when Blair was working. Blair's house manual is full of excellent tips - do read it! And finally the location is close to good buses and of course Whitechapel station with multiple tube lines. I look forward to going back - thank you!!

About
Before there was AirBNB, I was a host in my various apartments using CL, friend’s networks and word of mouth to find visitors. I’ve shared my flats in Manhattan, Los Angeles and Paris for over 15 years. I absolutely love hosting and making friends worldwide. Now I live in London and I’m happy to say, living in the biggest residence I’ve had yet to date! I LOVE where my flat is located and I love the space itself. I spend half my life traveling in and out of hotels, so I try to combine the conveniences they offer but with the homeliness of a friend. I’m extremely social, and there’s nothing I enjoy more than helping you make the most of your trip by suggesting restaurants, events and little pieces of joy I have discovered myself around the area. I can help put together the extra little bits to make this a special occasion for you. I also know when people need their own space., and I can afford you lots of it. I’m an American, originally from Southern California, but who is now a local of the entire world so I can be accommodating to any culture or taste, I absolutely revel in the differences between us all. Me personally, I'm a film buff and into all sorts of music, a major foodie and I cook up a storm if you like homemade dinners, I come from a family of chefs. I I keep on hand 22 different types of chilies. I also really love shoes. Some may say I have an addiction! I have a decent sized vinyl record collection and a good library of books. Since I was a teenager I have been in many touring bands and slept on more couches across the globe than I can remember. It's nice to pay back that karma finally! Any other thoughts, just ask! I will get back to you asap!
