About this listing
We are committed to offering great value, if you do not think this is the case, please make us an offer and we will consider.
Please note: the beach is 5 blocks away and so is the supermarket. Everything you need is nearby.
Maresias is about 30 min away from Sao Sebastiao (continental town opposite of Ilhabela).
From Sao Paulo, it it is really easy to get to: If you are driving you can get into Rodovia dos Trabalhadores or Dutra. Then Rodovia Carvalho Pinto, Rodovia dos Tamoios and you are in Caraguatatuba. Signs to Ilhabela will point you in the right direction. The ferryboat trip is a delight.
From Sao Paulo by bus: get a bus to Sao Sebastiao, and once you are there you can walk, get a urban bus or a cab to the ferry boat. Cross the canal and once in Ilhabela you can walk to the house or get a cab, which will cost under R$10.
Ilhabela means beautiful island and is located only 210km from Sao Paulo City and is a great place to visit both for holidays or sports.
The island is famous for its good winds and is considered as the Brazilian capital of Sailing. Here you may enjoy and practice windsurfing, scuba diving, fishing, trekking, and much more.
Ilhabela is known for having 360 waterfalls, 200 of which within easy access. We personally experienced 20 of them, and they are truly something. One of them, Jaqueira, is not far from the house.
There are 15-20 fruit trees in our garden and if you are driving, you can park 1 or 2 cars inside the house. Vila, the centre of the night life during the summer weekends is not far.
All the commercial centre of Pereque, with supermarkets, shuttles to the wild side of the island, waterfalls, pharmacies, restaurantes is at a walking distance.
We highly recommend the ice cream of Rocha. One of the best in the world. The house is spacious, cozy, has lots of storage space, a fully tooled kitchen and service area.
It is also very safe, with protections in all windows.
To be discussed with guests.
About the Host, Joao
I have many passions but career wise most of my path has been in the art world. I love the business side of the arts and I like it internationally. I worked for an arts magazine in Paris, had a gallery in Mayfair (London) and now am the founding partner of an art consultancy business in Sao Paulo. I also travel regularly to fairs and biennials around the world.
As a host, Airbnb allows me welcome people from all over the world which keeps me connected to different beautiful realities. I make new friends, have company, make work contacts, hear different opinions, and get the opportunity to show aspects of Sao Paulo to visitors who would perhaps not discover it otherwise.
As a guest, Airbnb is an opportunity to connect to locals and learn how to get around faster, feel part of the culture, experience different types of comfort, hospitality, architecture and interior design, and of course get a better deal than I would in a hotel.
I speak English, French and Portuguese and enjoy this site a lot. Hopefully my reviews, references, photos and videos will give you a good impression of who I am.
