Sylvie’s wonderful place in upper Kona is conveniently minutes away from all the Activities, Beaches and Fine Dining that Kona has to offer. The room is spacious and very comfortable for the three nights I was there. Sylvie herself is an exceptional host, and a seasoned world traveler. She is extremely generous with her time, resources, and shared her travel stories openly with great humor. I could not have been happier!
we really appreciated Karen's kindness and care. she always gave us many advices about place and restaurant to make our travel grater. thank you so much Karen&Sylvie.
we hope you could have wonderful travel in Africa♡mahalo!
a nice stay! comfortable, welcoming, quiet and clean. karen and Sylivia are friendly and open minded persons who are cooking pros. thanks again for pancakes, gazpacho, breadpudding and all the fruits!
The location of the room was great...fairly central to both north and south of kona. The room was clean and just as described although the walls were paper thin and I was not aware there would be a permanent tenant in the adjacent room.
I had to get up very early for excursions and go to bed early but it was hard to sleep since the other tenant would come home really late and put on the tv past midnight. Just be aware if you're a light sleeper.
The outdoor shower was not covered all the way so beware of mosquitos. Also it's very easy to get locked out of the room and when I did so once I had to wait 2 hrs to get a neighbor to help and then wait for the host to come home with a spare key...it would be helpful if they hid one around the property just in case.
Overall I would stay here again for a night or two but not longer than that since the noise at night was uncomfortable. The hosts were very nice though and the bowl of fruit was appreciated.
Our apologies for the neighbor's noise. This is the first time we have heard of this and we will address the concern.
Just an fyi, outdoor Balinese style showers, as described in air bnb, are typically not closed in.
Although I returned from our dinner within a half hour, upon receiving your call that you had locked yourself out, we have since, placed a spare key in an accessible spot for any such future incidents. Something convenient for both parties.
Thank you for your input and hope you enjoyed your tours and the island.
I'm almost sad to depart this beautiful island. A great part that has made my experience so wonderful here is my stay here at Sylvia/Karen's home. The room and bathroom are beautiful, my favourite blue. :). The outdoor lanai seating area with its gorgeous touches is perfect for kicking back after a long day on the road. I would sink back.and enjoy a beer at sunset. The view over the ocean at sunset on the deck above or below is (email hidden)e outdoor tropical shower is a luxury I would love to have at home. What an experience!
Sylvia and Karen have equipped the room with almost every need you could think of.
The huge bowl of fresh fruit and delicious Sylvia's honemade bread pudding one morning were so kind.
I enjoyed my conversations with Karen, a fellow part Canadian and would welcome either of them in my ohana any day. Thank you ladies!
It's very nice place. I have a very good time in Sylvie's house. She is very kind and considerate. And she is very helpful to me.
The room is very pretty and comfortable. It has cups, coffee muchine, dishes, very small oven. you can eat fresh fruit from her garden and take a shower outside. It's very good:) If she have enough time to make a breakfast, you can have very good breakfast .
anyway this place is very good:)
We stayed at Sylvie's for 4 nights. The room and outdoor patio were very comfortable and nice. Sylvie and Karen were great hosts. They filled our fruit bowl by our room with papayas, avocados and passionfruit. And generously shared food with us, Sylvie made chicken adobo one evening. They gave us tips on what to see and their drawn out beach maps we're very handy. We appreciate their hospitality!
Our ohana (Hawaiian for home) and the general ambiance of this space is the essence of relaxed and peaceful. It is easy to enjoy the best of any destination, if you meet nice people, see interesting sights (from temples to museums), or simply enjoying the coast, swimming, sunbathing, walking or snorkeling.
Personally I prefer having every opportunity of meeting people from all walks of life, eating healthy but tastey food, and experiencing culture. For these reasons me and my ohana live in Hawaii.
We certainly hope that you will share our joy of where we live and enjoy our Aloha :)
