The flat is part of the country house 'Il Vecchio Ippocastano'. The whole 16th century building has been renovated many times, last in 2008 and the project was designed by the holistic architect Brunella Franceschini. With much attention and love the apartment has been created with particular attention on comfort and harmony using natural materials like local limestone and chestnut wood. The furniture is entirely made with natural wood and it's also integrated with ancient family furnishings. The atmosphere is warm and cozy.
The apartment includes a large double bedroom, a bathroom with shower, a living room with a sofa bed and a fully equipped cooking corner.
Daily breakfast is served, included in the price. On request genuine biological meals can be prepared.
In June 2013 the new 5x10 mts pool will open for the guests.
There is a barbecue on property and a big pergola for eating "al fresco".
Wi-fi Internet connection available in the pergola and reception area.
Walking distance you find the bar/grocery shop Franco, the typical bazar where you find local food products and so much more!
In general, you need a car while staying at the Wolf to discover the nearby historic towns of Cascia, Norcia and Spoleto or to get to the National Park of Sibillini Mountains. For outdoor activities lover not to be missed the rafting experience on the Nera river, horse riding, trekking all in the vicinity.
We had a great time at Brunella's place, the Cats appartment. It is nice and tastefully arranged. All the facilities worked without problems. I highly recommend the welcome dinner for Saturday arrivals. It was a real culinary experience of regional specialities. same for the breakfast. The kids liked in particular the pool which is great to have at a vacation home.
The IppoCastano countryhouse is also well suited for group travel arrangements like groups of Mountainbikers or other as Brunella has several (email hidden). I highly recommend Brunella (email hidden) !
We loved our stay at Brunella's apartment!! We ended up staying in the Lepre apartment which was offered to us instead of Cats because it has a little more privacy. The entrance is on the piazza of the town, opposite of the church. It's a very spacious place for two people and has everything you need. Great bathroom, bedroom with a really comfortable bed and a big living area with couch, television, desk, chairs and big dining table + kitchen (all equipped). Everything was clean and enough towels, linens, toiletpaper etc where provided for a longer stay. All the apartments at the property are very nice, really. Brunella (email hidden) with a couple of buildings, a very well kept garden (where she also grows her own vegetables) and a special salt water pool. I think the property was fully booked during a couple of days of our stay but you never notice this - it always feels relaxed, quiet and comfortable.
Avendita (email hidden) but is close to bigger towns such as Norcia and Cascia, and then cities such as Perugia, Spoleto and Terni. There are loads of things to do in the area like rafting, horseback riding, biking etc. We also enjoyed just staying at the property and relaxing by the pool side. Brunella can recommend what to do and Claudia (who speaks perfect English) is always available on email or phone for further help and recommendations.
Brunella also teaches 5 Tibitans Yoga and meditation courses underneath the big Ippocastano. On Saturdays she usually organizes a welcome dinner for new guest with local dishes. These things are optional and you can take part if you'd like, but if you have other plans - that's totally fine as well and not frowned upon.
What we can really recommend is to have dinner at the agriturismo Valle Tezze, of her close friend whom she sometimes organizes dinner parties with as well. We also enjoyed our visit to Cascata delle Marmore and Spoleto in particular.
I would recommend this place to everybody who is looking for a very nice stay in the Umbrian region to relax, enjoy the sun, warmth, food, nature and hospitality of the Italians.
