The space
LIVING TINY

A step above "glamping", this rustic/modern home was built for luxurious minimalism :: Living large in a tiny package! Bearfoot Cottage is a 28ft x 8.5ft tiny home on wheels (THOW) that has been secured to our 15-acre property and connected to permanent utilities including 50 AMP power, high-speed FIBER internet, potable filtered water from a drilled well, on-demand propane hot water, traditional plumbing and septic system, and split system heat and A/C. The tiny home offers spray foam insulation, a built-in fresh air exchange system, and rigid foam insulation behind the metal skirting that connects the home to the ground. Bearfoot Cottage was trucked in and perfectly positioned in a 2-acre clearing for peaceful sunrises, sublime sunsets, and starry nights!

INSIDE

Our tiny home offers all the amenities of home in a tiny package! Access the house with keyless entry through the front portico and you'll be greeted with soaring 13-ft ceilings and a mixture of white + wood accents. The LIVING ROOM is on the main level with comfy couch and ottoman, log-style footrests/stools, flatscreen SmartTV (Netflix & Amazon Prime included with your stay), and puzzles/board games. The DINING AREA includes a fold-down live edge Acacia wood breakfast bar with vegan leather stools, perfect for meals or a work station. The KITCHEN is larger than most tiny homes, with all the essentials: Beautiful custom cabinetry with Signature hardware, quartz countertops and tile backsplash, Propane stove/oven with range hood, ceramic farm sink, Galanz retro mini fridge and freezer, retro microwave and toaster, stocked coffee bar with mini Keurig, French press, Green Mountain Coffee pods and herbal Bigelow tea. Kitchen accessories include utensils, plates, bowls, cookware set, placemats, towels, knives, serving spoons, spatulas, mini waffle and pancake makers, mini Magic Bullet blender, mixing bowl and colander. Basic cleaning supplies are also included. The stairs also double as storage, with room for small suitcases and hanging clothes. The BATHROOM includes an oversized shower with Delta fixtures, custom white oak vanity with vessel sink and floating shelves, flushing toilet and washer/dryer. We always provide our guests with fluffy towels and full-size Ginger Lily Farms Botanicals toiletries (100% vegan, cruelty-free, sulfate-free, paraben-free, with a ginger & lemongrass scent). The main SLEEPING LOFT is accessed by the storage stairs and includes a queen bed with memory foam mattress, soft pillows, 100% cotton sheets, and cozy reversible bedspread, with individual reading lights and outlets to charge up your devices. Our READING LOFT is our personal favorite! Accessed by our rolling ladder, the reading loft includes a skylight, pillow nook, reading light, "Tiny Library", and a Crosley record player with a rotating selection of our favorite tunes.

OUTSIDE

As you pull up, you'll be greeted by our giant wooden bear, Monty! In front of the house you'll have access to a large gravel area with picnic table, fairy lights, pressure-treated deck (starting December 2022), oversized granite patio with Polywood Adirondack chairs and Solostove firepit (initial firewood package included, & additional wood available for purchase), Char-Griller propane BBQ grill, and stepping stones to our HOT TUB!

Across the yard on one of our many Tall Pines, you'll spot our larger-than-life Ladybug along with a sign directing you to our hiking and snowshoeing trail. These wide trails are reclaimed from previous logging paths, and offer a nice nature walk through our young birch, maple, pine and oak trees over to a babbling brook that runs the length of the property, emptying across the street into the Williams River.

We have security cameras on the exterior of the home as well as a trail camera along our nature path, and we have picked up everything from wild turkeys, squirrels, deer, skunks, songbirds, hawks and foxes. Don't be surprised if you see some forest animals during your stay - Please leave them be.

Note: While we haven't personally seen any bears during our time at the property, we are in "Bear Country" and black bears are in the area - So please read our guidebook for best safety practices, and do not leave any food or food scraps outside the tiny house.

Guest access
The best part? You have the whole place to yourself! The tiny home and all 15 acres are all yours during your stay, and we are bordered by over 50 acres of undeveloped land on one side, and a farm estate on the other. If you are looking for peace and privacy, you've found it!

You will access the home with a private keycode that will be activated during the dates and times of your stay. For security, keycodes are changed after every guest.

Depending on the date of your stay, you may even hear the sounds of the historic Green Mountain railroad nearby (PS: If you like trains, ask us about the Fall Foliage ride!).

Other things to note
For special requests or specific requirements, please let us know ahead of time and we will do our best to accommodate you! We pride ourselves on clear communication, so if there is anything that needs attention during your stay please don't hesitate to let us know. We want to ensure each one of our guests has a 5-STAR EXPERIENCE!

Disclaimers: Please note that we use scented cleaning products, so we cannot guarantee a fragrance-free home. We pride ourselves on a squeaky-clean property, and do not currently allow pets, but for those with severe pet allergies please note that service animals as well as our personal pet may have accessed the property in the past.

Neighborhood highlights

Wonderful location in the Okemo Valley, just 15 minutes to Okemo Mountain Resort, 5 minutes or less to the center of Chester :: Voted "Best Small Town in Vermont" :: with shops & dining, and a short drive to other ski mountain destinations, lakes, rivers, hiking trails, scenic driving and biking routes. Chester has a true small-town vibe, with a retro diner, art galleries, bookstores, pottery shops & classes, cafe, tavern, and a handful of fantastic antique shops.

About 10 minutes North of our Tiny, you'll find yourself in Cavendish, with more of our favorites like Outer Limits Brewing Co, and Singleton's General Store.

5 more minutes and you'll hit "downtown" Ludlow, our local ski town with trendy shops, drinking&dining (Like Main + Mountain, our favorite spot for creative cocktails!), conveniences, and access to Okemo Mountain Resort as well as Fox Run Golf Club.

Our property is located on a private drive directly adjoining Route VT-103, which is a well-traveled & state-maintained road. The ultimate sense of privacy, but with easy access to wherever your trip takes you!

Hi! Our names are Kaitlyn & Jonathan. We love all things New England: hiking, camping, kayaking, and all-around exploring. We are foodies, and have been cooking, eating, and drinking our way through the Northeast ever since we first met! We love unique architecture, cabins, tiny homes, and treehouses. We put our heart and soul into creating our first tiny house vacation home in 2022, and can’t wait to see what else is in store!
