The Space

This pretty space is in a new, two bedroom apartment (one person lives here). As well as the amenities listed I provide guests with adapters and umbrellas. The window has blackout blinds to help you sleep during the short Summer nights and is well insulated, warm and cozy in Winter.
There is a comfy seat for you for reading and two reading lamps. There's plenty of room for clothing with a wardrobe and two sets of drawers. Suitcases can be stored either under the bed, or if they're too large, in the living room.

The apartment has plenty of space and is decorated in an eclectic style. There is a sheltered patio area for outdoor sitting, even on a wet day.

There's free wifi and a small library of books and dvds for you to use in the living room. There's free tea, coffee or hot chocolate too.

Guest Access

As well as your own private room you'll have access to the bathroom (shared with me), kitchen/ living room, the patio area, garden, and the laundry room.

Interaction with Guests

You'll see me around regularly, mostly in the evenings or the weekends as I'll be working most days.

The Neighborhood

The location really could not be better! It's in the absolute centre of Dublin, so it's close to everywhere yet just far enough away from the nightclubs of Temple Bar to be perfect for sleeping too. The main train and bus stations are within easy walking distance as is the nearest Luas station (light rail system). There's even a Dublin bike depot outside the front door on your right!

O'Connell Street, Dublin's main street, is just around the corner where buses leave for ever destination in the city, including the Dublin tour buses.

The GPO building is on this street, the focal point of the Easter Rising, along with various department stores and shops.

This part of Parnell St stretches from the Gate and Olympic theatres to the UGC cinemas. In between there's a supermarket, a truly brilliant bookstore and a range of cafes and take-aways.

On Parnell Square, the block just north of here, is the Municipal Gallery with the famous Hugh Lane collection of fine art. This hosts free classical concerts every Sunday. Chapter One (a michelin star restaurant) is on this block along with the garden of Remembrance park.

Just opposite the apartment building is Moore street, the ancient, cobbled, open air fruit and vegetable market. Walk down this street and you'll come to Henry Street, one of Dublin's two main, very busy shopping streets.

At the other end of Parnell Street is Capel street, leading down to the river. This street has dozens of pubs of different character, live music venues and restaurants.

If you cross the river (about a ten minute walk from here) you'll be in Temple bar where there's a wide variety of late night bars, clubs, cafes and more eclectic shops.

Getting Around

There's every kind of public transport nearby. I don't own a parking space though so I wouldn't recommend staying here for drivers.

The city centre is compact so all the main tourist attractions are within walking distance from the apartment.

Buses to everywhere in Dublin, including the bus tours of Dublin, leave from O'Connell St, around the corner. There is a Dublin bike (free bike hire) depot on Parnell St a minutes walk from the apartment building. The Luas (tram) stop on Abbey St is a five minute walk away. The main train station, Connolly station, is a 25 minute walk away. The main bus station, Bus Aras, is a 30 minute walk away.

From the airport any Dublin city bus that says "city centre" will bring you to O'Connell St, as will the aircoach (more expensive) or a taxi. From O'Connell St you're only a few minutes walk from the apartment building.

Other Things to Note

I hope you feel very welcome here and feel like you're at a friends home while you stay.

The living room is where I sew and make crafts so may be slightly cluttered.

I do keep the apartment clean but some floors and rugs are old so have many marks on them.

I'm from here and know this city and the country very well so feel free to ask me about anywhere you'd like to go or about things you'd like to do.
