Warm, welcoming house with a private pool and a magnificent open view of the Istrian hills.
The property contains two stone houses; the main house sleeps 4 (shared bathroom) and the small one sleeps 2 (own bathroom). There is a sitting area on the terrace and plenty of lounge chairs around the 50m2 pool.
The house is close to the main square of a cosy little town of Vižinada, one of the main winemaking areas in Istria. Surrounded by hiking and biking paths. Beaches are only 15 min away.

The space
The property is in a quiet (dead end) street. The terrace is sunny all day but during hot summer days you will appreciate the shadowy spots. As the house is on the top of the hill, the view is completely open (180 degrees). The house has thick stone walls (to keep it cool during summer) but for more coolness, there are two air-conditioners and a fan. Living area is spacious, offering two sofa's and a dining table for six. There is ample wardrobe in all bedrooms, and in the main bathroom there is a steam shower for two. The kitchen is equipped with a dishwasher and a washing machine. Bedroom windows are fitted with mosquito nets.
There are parking spots for 2 cars.

Vižinada, Istarska županija, Croatia

Vižinada is located on one of the most attractive hiking and biking trails in Istria - the Parenzana trail. You can start a hike from your house or rent a bike and go for a ride - beside Parenzana, there are other paths leading to the coast or to the neighbouring towns of Motovun or Groznjan. Great for a sportive holiday in the spring or autumn.
A couple of steps away from the house, close to the main square, you will find one of the most important (12th century) fresco's in Istria - they are in the small church of St. Barnabas.
As a winemaking region, Vižinada and its surroundings offer various locations for wine (and prosciutto, cheese, olives..) tasting. There are also some nice restaurants in rural setting offering local food.
For basic groceries, there are two small supermarkets in town and for bigger shopping, Poreč or Novigrad are just 15 min away.
In 2020, Rijeka (1 hr drive) is the European Capital of Culture, featuring a variety of performances, exhibitions, shows etc.

I found this house when I was on a sabbatical in Istria; I loved its open views and the tranquility of the place. As I live in the Netherlands, I spend a couple of weeks per year in Vižinada, and when I am not there, I would love to share this great spot with other people.
