The area around De Kateeker is captivating and versatile! The Witteveen, the Haaksbergerveen and the Buurserzand are almost consecutive nature reserve. Walking and cycling are the favorite things to do. Meeting the Scottish Highlanders in Witteveen is a special experience. In the Haaksbergerveen, a sheep herd runs around in the summer. The Buursermeertje is a romantic place for a picnic. 5 minutes walk from the apartment is De Wakel, the information centre on the neighbouring sand. The Trekvogelpad runs here and is the bicycle hub of Twente 47. The Haarmühle is one of the water mills in the region. This water mill and restaurant is located just across the border in Germany.
In addition to nature, you can also enjoy cultural excursions. A visit to the Enschede district of Roombeek, the TwentseWelle and the Rijksmuseum Twenthe is well worth it.
