We spent two nights at Baruchica and were sad to leave. It was incredibly relaxing. It's quiet, isolated and intimate. Olga, a Columbian photojournalist, is an interesting woman and a very welcoming host; we had some fun chats over lunch/dinner with her and her family and at other times were able to relax by ourselves with books in hammocks. The food is simple & good, the accommodations rustic but lovely - take the second-floor room if you can. The private beach isn't great for swimming, but it's a 5-minute drive to Playa Blanca on the other side of the island. Playa Blanca is a mixed bag: the water is warm and clear, the sand white, but it's also overrun and in places dirty. We went late in the day when the daytrippers from Cartagena had gone, heading down the right-hand-side of the beach where there were some relaxed beachfront bars. Swimming, cervezas and the sunset for a few hours, then back to Baruchica for dinner. At night, warm breezes and the sound of waves lapping the shore soothed us to sleep. We woke to sunlight pouring into the room early the next morning. It's not for everyone, perhaps, but it's a remarkable place and we'll definitely recommend it to friends.
Unforgettable!!! My partner and I stayed there for 2 nights and we had an incredible experience. This beautiful, unique, and peaceful house is secluded and away from all the craziness of playa blanca. We were fortunate to have the house all to ourselves so we got unbelievable attention by the staff. On the beach the landscaper put hammocks up for us to lay on. On the first night we had a candlelight dinner on the balcany. The second night was on the beach with a small bonfire for us to enjoy alone. The food was great and very healthy; the sunrises from the 2nd floor room, where we stayed, was breathtaking; and the staff was more than helpful.
We recommend you rent out the boat and go out with Pablo to the Islas del Rosario. They are beautiful and it is great to have a private boat to snorkel, sunbathe, or just lay on. Also, if Olga is there ask her to take you to the aviary which was unbelievable.
All in all, thank you Olga and your staff for an unforgettable experience! We will be back,
Leo and Andres
