Amazing 5 bedroom two story log cabin home with incredible views of Poas Volcano and only 5 minutes away from the world famous La Paz Waterfall Gardens.
Huge spaces in our home in a rural community with best access to La Paz Waterfall Gardens just 5 minutes away. Experience the cloud forest first hand with trails and streams on the property along with stawberry and dairy farms.
There is a delicious bakery in front of the home, meals can be prepared in home, views of the Tres Marias Volcanoes, Barva Volcano and of course the Poas Volcano.
Interaction with Guests
We love interacting with our guests but also understand the need for privacy and rest.
Access to everything but yet rural. Small supermarket in walking distance, milk farms and strawberry farms very close by, many unique and affordable restaurants minutes away.
The bus that goes to San Jose stops in front of the property. Plenty of local restaurants with great food close by. La Paz Waterfall Gardens are less than 5 minutes away and Poas Volcano is no more 20 minutes away.
This is a no smoking house (it is a log cabin home afterall) but guests are more than welcome to smoke on the property as their ample room on the farm.
Lodge super spacieux à l'architecture typique. 4 étoiles il loupe la 5ème car la proximité de la route et le vas et viens des camions n'est pas des plus reposant mais malgré tout je recommande.
The cabin was very beautiful, rustic and spacious. It was a bit chilly as expected with the higher altitudes. The view was great from the cabin since you can see the volcano. We did not visit the Poas volcano since it was cloudy. La Paz Waterfall about 10 mins away was awesome. There was a lot to see, we took our time and spent 6 hours there. It cost $50 and a lunch buffet is included. It is was well worth the money. Tomas was a great host: very knowledgeable and accommodating. Tomas made great suggestions to local restaurants. We had the pleasure of having him as a personal chauffeur. He has vast knowledge of the country and pointed out many things. We learned a lot from Tomas ! We saw coffee plants, papaya trees, monkeys, different birds, sugar cane, blackberrys, mango plants, etc. He is a very kind person who dedicates himself to the local community. His experiences and accomplishments are very inspirational. We are glad that our proceeds will be going to a great cause such as funding the local highschool he opened up in Costa Rica. Thank you Tomas for the amazing experience!
Wirklich sehr nett, vielen Dank!
Tomas was a great host. He made sure we had good directions and made getting the key at the bakery very easy. After a phone call he stopped by the house and was a pleasure to talk to about the area and places we should visit. The house itself was amazing, just what my family was looking for. It was a bit chilly, but that's to be expected in that area and he mentioned it to us before hand. Thank you so much.
Although we did not meet Tomas, the rental process went smoothly. We had no problem picking up the keys from the bakery and the home was just as described. Tomas even assisted our driver in finding the location - the directions given are easy to follow but our driver spoke Spanish and only a little English and could not understand my directions. Tomas is a great communicator and responded to my emails in a timely manner. The home is very rustic and beautiful. An enormous log cabin with plenty of space for a larger group; we were only three. We stayed one night and enjoyed ourselves. The home was pretty chilly and there was no wood to burn however, some warm clothes did the trick and kept us warm. The beds have nice thick blankets so sleeping and keeping warm were no issue. Highly recommend warmer clothes and shoes in the mountains which Tomas does inform his guests to have prior to their arrival. We were hoping to make use of the large tub however, could not find the plug. The showers are Eco-showers so do not get overly hot but were a decent temperature.
La Paz Waterfall Gardens is incredibly close and I highly recommend visiting. The animal sanctuary and waterfalls were amazing. The home is directly across from a lovely bakery and there are two markets north and south of the home within walking distance.
The volcano park is also very close however, we did not have time to visit.
Tomas kindly provided us with an option for transportation to the airport however, we had arranged our own with a very nice local in the town.
I would recommend staying at Tomas' home if you are visiting in Vara Blanca.
Incredible location close to Poas Volcano and Le Paz Waterfall. Tried a number of local restaurants for breakfast and dinner, enjoying the local cuisine. On the one morning it wasn't cloudy, the view was incredible as you are high in the mountains. Locals were very friendly.
While we were a family of 5, house could host a much larger group comfortably. Tomas was very attentive (although not there in person), providing suggestions for local activities. Key pick up was easy.
Would definitely go back.
My family and I had a lovey stay in this cabin. Lovely views and location. The ping pong table was a plus! The wifi was good. It was a little chilly but there were plenty of blankets. We only stayed two days and had a great time. This place would be great for a large group.
