This bedroom available for people who are in the area for a short time, days, weeks, a month or two. It will work especially well for tourists.
You will have access to kitchen, fridge, stovetop, etc. and bathroom, shower/tub, washing machine and drying rack. There is a backyard that is available for lounging and grilling. I expect that you leave it as you found it.
You will be staying in the front bedroom, on a futon. If necessary a space for a small desk can be arranged. There is a strong wireless connection throughout the house. There are curtains in the living room to create a semi-private space behind which an airbed in the living room can be added for additional guests or persons in a party who are not sharing a bed.
Please no late night visitors, parties, or drugs. No smoking and no pets in the house.
The Temescal neighborhood is not far and it has great restaurtants. Berkeley Bowl a famous, excellent, and affordable grocery store is ca. a mile away and the bus goes right by it.
You will have excellent public transportation access with Bus 18, ca. 20 mins to UCB (website hidden) Transit's Bus 18 also goes to MacArthur BART, a station with a high frequency of trains to SF and OAK and SFO Airports. The neighborhood also has quick access with the car to freeway to SF, points north, south, or Walnut Creek.
The neighborhood is quiet and diverse, and there is plenty of street parking.
The house is ecologically renovated with low-emission paint, natural cleaning implements are used. I try to maintain a small ecological footprint in house and garden, and invite houseguests to participate in this effort. Thus, please, when leaving, turn off heat and lights to preserve energy. Use water wisely, California is drought country.
I had a great stay at Marion's house. You have great access to public transportation to Berkeley or San Francisco. There's a huge supermarket nearby where you can find everything you could possibly imagine :-)... I really recommend staying at her pace!
My stay with my family was great ! The house is clean, spacious, and very well located (close to transportations and good grocery shopping). The garden is nice, the kitchen has everything we needed... and the price was incredibly reasonable. We couldn't have hoped for better !
We had a great stay at Marion's house! It is a beautiful charming house with a wonderful host.
Marion was very helpful, amicable with a great sense of humor and she just made us feel at home. We were also welcome to use the livingroom, the kitchen and the garden. It is a good option to stay in Oakland (nice neighborhood) and take the nearby BART or rent a bike to discover downtown San Francisco.
We spent 2 nights at Marion's place but the majority of time we were in San Francisco. We could easily reach downtown by BART (which was 5 minutes drive from her place, parking was easy and for free) and the apartment was perfect for our needs. Nice neighbourhood.
Marion was easy to reach and answered all our messages immediatelly so the organisation of our staying there was perfect.
Our stay with Marion was easy and stress free. Marion's home was spacious, clean, and eco-friendly. The room was comfortable, and she left most of the house open to us to use at our discretion. Marion gave us plenty of privacy but made herself available every night in case we had questions. The kitchen is modern and includes updated appliances. We would definitely stay with Marion again should the need arise.
Marion was very accomodating and pleasant. Room is rather small. Great location for visiting our daughter one mile away!
When my friend and I moved to the Bay Area from Minnesota, we decided to stay at Marion's place for a month. She was very accommodating and made us feel right at home. She allowed us to use the entire house -- the grill, the kitchen, the backyard, etc. -- which was really helpful since we were staying there for so long. We also had a great time talking to Marion and getting to know her while we were there. Sometimes we'd forget to lock the door on the way out, but she was understanding of our forgetfulness.
