One of 2 Tipis, Perfect Location in Topanga Canyon, less than an hour from LA or LAX. Only 20 minutes to the beach, unusually quiet and photogenic, lots of friendly wildlife; foxes, rabbits, deer, all visit the property daily. 5 minute hike to your car, safe inside an exclusive gated 4 acre property with WiFi so you can work for the day.

The space
For your health and peace of mind during these uncertain times, I have implemented the CDC’s guidelines in sanitizing your space after the last guest’s visit. You can reserve one or both tipi’s depending on your group’s size and need for privacy, and health concerns.

All you will need is good footwear for the short steepish, hike in (High heels are not good, but I usually hike in with my flip-flops) You will want to bring takeaway and cameras for a perfect retreat. There are plenty of hiking opportunities. In fact you have literally hundreds of miles of hiking right from the Tipi. Search "Backbone Trail Topanga" to get an Idea of the 69 mile central thread. The Tipi is authentic planes style, hand made. I built it for my kids but love to share the space with the like minded for day use and as a location. We do have limited parking so your first car is free but any additional car or trailer will cost $20 per day.

Guest access
A short hike from your car you will have a half acre of serine, Oak studded woodland bordering on wilderness entirely to yourself!* With no need to interact with anyone or think about "Social Distancing" once you are there. Bring your "Takeaway" from one of the local eateries to dine in a beautiful outdoor setting under a giant live Oak, or relax in a hammock, in your own private oasis, work from WiFi with the lure of hiking trails to get your heart rate up. Just a short drive to the beach, and all that the metropolis of Los Angeles has to offer just minutes away!

*Reserve both tipis and let me know if you want total privacy so I can focus on my work elsewhere.

Other things to note
Please pay attention to the parking as it is limited! If you have difficulty or feel intimidated backing up, I will park for you. Your first vehicle is included but any additional vehicles or trailers will cost $20 per day. Don't try to find the site unless I have instructed you! Wear suitable closed toe footwear to hike on a moderately steep trail for a couple of hundred yards.... (I hike it in my flip-flops so it's not really that bad) Remember this is a remote site so don't bring allot of stuff you don't absolutely need. We have a gate and our parking is generally very safe. That said, I can't take responsibility for your belongings, either with you or in your car. This is not a "Party Pad" but a quiet retreat, if you bring music, please use headphones to preserve the peace. Loud music or roughhousing will not be tolerated. As for Smoking, It is bad for you and horrifying in this area. This would be the perfect time to stop, but if you must, only smoke in the "Dining Area" and exercise extreme caution as FIRE is the single biggest concern here. Please use a mostly empty beverage bottle for ashes and butts. You are staying in a "Wild Lands Tinderbox" here so please conduct yourself accordingly, no incense, no candles, no campfires, and no smoking in areas other than the dining area. I will raise hell with you and Airbnb for any infraction and may call the Police or Fire Dept. if I feel the need. This is a wonderful place to relax and enjoy a simpler approach. At the end of the day I want you to remember this always and fondly as an integral part of one of your best adventures!

As with many communities that host Airbnb we have a mix of neighbors which I can expand on when you arrive if you like but we are far enough from the trodden path that you are unlikely to have any interaction, which is just as well, considering that most of them are here to get away as well.

I am a 30 year veteran of the Adventure Sports/Commercial Television and Film World. I grew up between the Mountains of Colorado, in Vail and Aspen, and a large cattle ranch in Northwest Montana. After a year of school at Prescott College in Arizona and several more shooting ski films in Colorado, I moved to North Hollywood where I lasted about 6 months before fleeing to Half Moon Bay. I eventually made it back to Hollywood because of "The Business" and for about 5 years lived on my sailboat. Throughout this time I was traveling the world shooting films and first kayak descents of rivers and ski descents of mountains. About 10 years ago I met my sweetheart at the Premier of an IMAX Film called "Mystery of the Nile" we shot while making the first "Source to Sea" descent of the Nile. After a couple of years living in the Marina we decided to settle in Topanga with our young family. As luck would have it, we found a magical piece of property, with direct access to over 100 miles of hiking/mountain biking trails through Topanga State Park and adjacent wild areas, while being only 22 miles direct from downtown Los Angeles. Now I am able to work closer to home and family. Airbnb along with some beautiful property with stunning views is helping fulfill that dream.... As far as hosting, I would personally like to make everyone who stays with us a lifelong friend but I am also just happy to share a such a beautiful place so close to the city, yet so far away from all the noise and haste! If you decide to stay with us, you are welcome to request additional services like breakfast, cappuccino or a shuttle to the airport, direction and information on local resources. We will do what we can to make sure our guests have a wonderful stay in a truly magical place with no worries about the small stuff.

During your stay
I try to sense how much interaction guests would like and adjust my stride, you can help by simply telling me you would rather have minimal interaction. (I promise not to take it personally). I do have to spend enough time to guide you to the site, and get you oriented. Beyond that you are free to come and go as you like. If you don't book both Tipis you may have other guests sharing the kitchen with you and I may be working on site.
