Huge bedroom in a large house, located on a quiet tree-lined street on the southern edge of Pittsburgh. Convenient to Downtown (15 minutes), South Side (night life and local food- 10), Oakland (Pitt/CMU- 15), and southern suburbs. At our place, you'll be able to enjoy home-like atmosphere, plenty of creature comforts, and of course some puppy therapy.

The space
THE ROOM
This is our largest room, and the one with the coolest view. Come enjoy a birds-eye vantage of the Becks Run valley through our 2 x 2 dormer window. This welcoming room also boasts a kitchenette with fridge, microwave, water cooler, and coffee maker, as well as a smart tv with streaming services added. So whether you're visiting for a couple weeks of remote work, or looking for a crash pad that will help you survive a long weekend on takeout and leftovers, we think you'll feel quite at home.

THE HOUSE
Our huge 5 bedroom, 2 bath century home, is currently an ecclectic mix of old and new. I'm a contractor, and remodeling the house is pretty much my life, so some rooms are brand new, and some are vintage Pittsburgh. We try to provide pretty comprehensive pictures of the whole home, so what you see is what you get.

Guests are welcome to use the kitchen for meals. We have plenty of dishes, pots, appliances, etc. Only requirement is that you clean up after yourself. We do ask that you use the fridge in your room for storage, but we've been known to be flexible, especially if you're staying for longer and plan to cook a lot.

Our living room is the place to be if you want to make some friends. My wife and I are typically around if home, other guests will often pass by and say hi, and you are in prime pet territory.

We have a den as well, which is a little quieter. Warm gas fireplace and rustic styling make it a great place to cozy up on a cold night.

We have a front porch and back deck if the outdoors are more your style. The deck is very nice, especially in the evening, with chairs and table set up. We have a front porch as well, but I often use that as a work area, so 50/50 if it's open.

We have two cats (Shadrach and Meshach) and a dog (Lance) that live here, and can often be found in the common areas. They are all very sweet, and will do their best to make sure you leave as a friend-- especially our Golden Retriever Lance. So expect some toys and kisses from him... and possibly a hug. Recommended for travelers who are comfortable around dogs.

We generally allow guest pets as well. Please read below if you are considering bringing an animal.

--GUEST PET POLICY--

We have had great experiences hosting guests with pets, and hope to continue to do so. Our overall goal is to provide the most accommodation to our furry friends and their owners, while at the same time keeping our house clean, safe, and welcoming to everybody. If you would like to bring a pet, please let us know in your request 1) the number, type, and breed of animal(s), and 2) confirm that you read our pet policy.

>>>Service animals
Service animals are always allowed at no charge. Service animals are highly trained, and provide specific medical or mobility services to a person. Emotional Support Animals are not service animals. Service animals are allowed in all areas of the home, and are not subject to any of the other restrictions outlined below, with the exception of the health and safety section. If visiting with a service animal, you are not required to alert us ahead of time, and we understand why many people with SA's choose not to. Even so, we ask as a courtesy that you would let us know in your booking request, so that we can plan to accommodate: 1) They type of animal and service it is trained to provide, and 2) any other reasonable accommodation requests you may have.

DOGS
We love to meet new dogs, and so does Lance. While you are around, guests and their dogs are welcome throughout the home, as long as they are behaving. Our cats are not super excited about dogs however, so if your dog is harassing them, he may need to stay in your room. While you are out, you may leave your dog, but you will need to keep it in the room. Alternatively, we have a large crate in our den you're welcome to use. Pet fee for dogs is $25 per animal. Limited to 2 dogs.

CATS
We are glad to welcome cats at Carrick House, but unfortunately, our cats are not so accommodating. So cats will need to stay in your room. You will need to provide their food/litter/etc. Pet fee for cats is $25 overall (just put one pet in the booking request). Limited to 2 cats.

CAGED PETS
Hamsters, birds, fish, etc are all fine. Anything living in a cage or tank we aren't too worried about, although they do need to abide by the noise rules. No charge for these types of animals.

NOISY ANIMALS
The ideal pet to bring with you on your visit is one that isn't known for being loud. So we're counting on our guests to use their discretion in deciding if their pet is a good fit for a shared house. We want everybody to have a great time staying with us, including guests who don't have pets and want to enjoy their stay in peace. If we determine that an animal is making too much noise (barking, howling, chirping, etc), then the first option is to move it down to the den. This is 2 floors down from the nearest bedroom, so typically will solve any problems. If a guest is not willing to accept this solution, or it otherwise is not working, we will have to end your visit early.

>>>Health and Safety
The health and safety of everybody in our home, human or otherwise, is our #1 priority. This applies to all animals, whether pets, Emotional Support Animals, or Service animals.

We will immediately end the stay for any animals which display any signs of aggression towards humans or other animals. Being crated or contained in your room will not be considered; all animals which we determine are aggressive will have to leave. Signs of aggression could include baring teeth or snarling, raised hair, excessive or aggressive barking, or overall demeanor, but ultimately extend to any behavior which we determine makes an animal unsafe. In deciding if an animal is a safety concern, we will base our decision on its behavior ONLY, and WILL NOT consider its size, alleged physical capabilities, or history as excuses.

Additionally, all animals must be housebroken to visit. We understand that accidents sometimes happen, as we have pets ourselves. However, repeat offenders create health and cleanliness concerns, and so will not be allowed to continue staying.

Thanks for reading, hope to see you all soon!
