I and my two adult children enjoyed our stay, and Marie was wonderful. We unfortunately did not get to meet Cathy as she was out of the country. Le Cabanon afforded wonderful views from the deck of the cities of San Jose, Alejuela, and even to San Rafael on clear days. We felt very at home, and used this ideal location close to Route 27 and the airport as a jump off point for day trips to Quepos and the local cities in the valley. You can drive within 3 hours to Monteverde, Arenal Volcano, or Manuel Antonio. I fixed breakfast daily before our trips in the kitchenette, and the property is as beautiful as the inside of the houses on the property. Marie and Cathy have wonderful sense of decor. I have no complaints about this property and would recommend it to friends and family. Local restaurants are great, the Tico bar in the neighborhood is friendly, and the beds and spacious hot shower are great places to collapse and refresh for the next day's adventure. Word of caution, you will want to take their little dog Theo home with you. Wonderful hosts, wonderful experience. I look forward to my next visit.
I really can't say enough about this place as well as the hostesses. Let me start with the place. It is absolutely BEAUTIFUL! I've stayed at several Air BnBs and this is by far the most immaculate, stunning place ever. The photos are true to form and Marie and Cathy also have someone clean the house daily. I didn't want to leave - literally! The beds are comfortable, there is wireless and the view - oh the view, it is to die for!
The hostesses are also very kind. Unfortunately my sister in law missed her flight, so I spent my first day at their home resting, which was quite okay because like I said before, the place is like staying at a resort. Marie was kind of enough to drive to the local market and so I can pick up some food. Also, a couple of days later, they took my sister-in-law and I to the meeting place to meet a tour group and also dropped us off at a local restaurant. They also have a good relationship with a cab driver that will help you around town.
Trust me, when I go back to CR I will definitely stay at Le Cabanon or their other properties. I HIGHLY recommend this place to anyone who wants to stay in a extremely well decorated home with the best hostesses. Voila!
Le Cabanon is the best place to stay in San Jose! From the moment we arrived, Marie was warm and welcoming. The cottage is enchanting with a beautiful view overlooking the city. The decor is tasteful and comfortable and the gardens are divine. Marie even took the time to run us to the grocery store in her own car so that we could stock the kitchen with a few items for our stay. We arrived at Le Cabanon at the end of a two week adventure across Costa Rica. Marie offered use of her washing machine so that we could have some clean clothes for the end of our trip. We couldn't have enjoyed our stay here more! Recommended for anyone who wants to be close to the airport, the city and the surrounding mountains.
Not only was our home for the week beautifully designed and clean, but our hosts were as kind as they could be! Both my mother and I truly enjoyed staying at Le Cabanon while we were in the Central Valley. The views are fantastic, especially on New Year's Eve where we watched fireworks around the valley for hours. The location is close to everything (restaurants, grocery, shopping, banks, hospital, local attractions) and is close to highway 27 which was excellent for getting around. The only trouble we had was finding it the first time, so we do recommend you locate it before it gets dark. There are gorgeous gardens all throughout the property where you can hear and see many pretty local birds. Marie and Cathy have outdone themselves as gracious hosts and we are both so happy we found this little paradise near the city for our stay!
MERCI

When looking for a place to stay while in Costa Rica, I came across Marie's home in Santa Ana. I was trying to find a home that would be comfortable for everyone that I was traveling with, including my 76 year old mother. The home far exceeded that and many other expectations and brought my mother to tears. The home is clean and beautifully decorated with the kind of care that you would put in your own home if you had the artistic and talented view point that it clearly took to create such a place. If you find yourself more comfortable outside, the tropical garden filled with lush native plants and flowers is the perfect setting to enjoy a cafe con leche in the morning along with you favorite book. The views from this mountain side villa over the valley are breathtaking both day and night and I found myself happy to return after a day of exploring Costa Rica to comfortable beds and wonderful linens. Now...your hosts. There is a certain warmth in people that you meet for the first time that feels really genuine and this is the best way that I can describe Marie and Cathy. From the first day we arrived, they were very helpful with anything that we needed, from driving directions to shopping centers ,to help with maneuvering our car in the driveway. They make every effort to assure that you are enjoying your stay and for everyone traveling with me, that was definitely the case. Don't miss out on staying in one of their fabulous homes! If one day I return to Costa Rica, I'll be sure to come back here!
