I work full-time at the University of Wyoming and will give you lots of privacy. I enjoy hiking, mountain biking, reading, rafting, and photography. I live with two friendly - but furry - cats (not good if you have allergies) who would love to play with you. Chunk (fuzzy & gray) and Steve (large & black) love treats and chasing string.
I have lived in Laramie for a looong time and can give you lots of great suggestions for the area (including recreation, transportation, dining, entertainment, etc). Let me know if you have any questions!
Other Things to Note
The University of Wyoming is a short bike ride or 5-10 minute walk. You can also hop on the free campus shuttle just three blocks away. Downtown Laramie is a 10 minute ride, or 15-20 minute walk.
Several restaurants and our neighborhood pub (O'Dwyers Public House - great for drinks, dinner, bingo and trivia) are just a quick 3 block walk away. Also nearby is Washington Park, LaPrele Park, Albertsons grocery and open prairie.
It looked like a nice neighborhood. The accommodations were great! Listing was accurate. Recommended.
I traveled to Laramie to see my brother graduate, and for the first time traveled as an adult with my mother who is differently abled. While I was very nervous about how we would be received, (as I normally travel alone),Melanie, Caleb, Chunk and Steve ( their cats) made us feel very welcome and at home. A lovely place to stay in Laramie in a great location!
My experience at Melanie's was short and sweet. My travel plans changed a bit, and she left a key in the mailbox for me as she was not home when I arrived. Her place is so cute! She has amazing taste. The bungalow is clean, colorful, and tastefully furnished.
It showed that she put a lot of time and effort into a little guest guidebook, which included info about the house and where to find things (love it!) and also information about Laramie.
As a weary traveler, I appreciated that Melanie gave me plenty of privacy and space to decompress.
Terrific experience. Melanie's house was perfectly situated for doing research at the amazing American Heritage Center - I could have avoided renting a car if I'd flown directly to Laramie. It was easy to arrange a time to arrive. The house is lovely, the room was private and comfortable, and the price was very fair. Melanie answered questions I had and made me feel welcome. I felt comfortable using the kitchen, bathroom, and other shared spaces. I felt just as comfortable hiding out in my room at the end of a long day. Melanie's cats have the perfect cat temperament.
Very friendly host. We loved her dinner recommendation for local bistro, 'Jeffreys'. Comfortable room and great value. Would definitely stay again.
Staying at Melanie's home was very comfortable and just like the description and pictures! Her cats are so sweet and I slept better there than any hotel from my trip. I wasn't there long but I would recommend staying with Melanie next time you're in Laramie.
