Thanks for having a look at my listing.
Please do send me a message before you book. I promise to respond very quickly. Also, if you would like to book to come and stay do have a picture of yourself on your profile and please note that if you do not have reviews or a profile I will need an introductory message telling me about yourself and reason for coming to Brighton etc. As you would be staying in my home it is important to know who you are!
Double bedroom available to rent by the night in my bright and cosy basement flat.
The flat comprises of 2 double bedrooms, a bathroom, kitchen and lounge.
Guests will have a key and will able to come and go as they please. There is a shared bathroom in the flat.
I provide breakfast of fruit, pastry, cereal bars, tea/coffee etc which will waiting for you outside your room every morning. You are also welcome to use the kitchen during your stay. Just let me know.
You are also more than welcome to use the washing machine.
Parking....DON'T! It's a nightmare in Brighton. If you have to,drive, there is a cheap parking lot 15 minutes walk from mine on NORTON ST, HOVE. Apart from that it is paying the ridiculously expensive meters outside my house. I very rarely have a visitors voucher that you could have for £5 a day but as I can only buy a small number each year from the rotters at the council these are usually not available.
I have a miniature Schnauzer named Hudson who is from a dog rescue home. He is lovely but very scared of new people so he will be generally keeping a low profile during your stay! He has his own kennel and bed and never sleeps on the beds or sofas.
My flat is quiet and cosy, there is a lovely park in the square right outside the front door and the beach is three minutes' walk from the beach, and ten minutes' walk from the main railway station and central Brighton. It's also just five minutes in the opposite direction to a supermarket, a cinema, several bus stops, fish-and-chips restaurants, antique shops, galleries, clubs, and a million pubs - so, despite it being so quiet, the moment you open the door, you are in the heart of it all!
If I am home I am happy to help you plan your visit to Brighton and tell you about local sites and restaurant etc. I am also just at the end of a phone if I'm not home and you need anything.
Beyond that I am also conscious to give guests complete privacy. You know where I am if you need me!
I do my best to make guests relaxed and feel welcomed.
I will be usually be staying in the flat (although am often out) during guests' stays or, very occasionally there may be another guest staying. Please don't be put off by my 65% acceptance rate!!! I am usually always able to accept guest. The acceptance rate just reflects the times that I offer guests the other room from the one they enquired about.
Brighton is a cosmopolitan, artistic, musical and dynamic city, with a fabulous mix of culture, history, seaside kitsch, bohemian open-mindedness and continental café culture.
It's the perfect base for exploring the south coast, London, and the south of England generally, and it is only twenty minutes from Gatwick, which is very handy for trips to France and the rest of Europe.
Lovely flat in a really good location. Didn't see max but she was very helpful. Would recommend.
Maxine's place is awesome - its very Art Deco-ey and vintage, while also being clean and simple too. The room was clean, the bedding was fresh and the towels in the bathroom were all white and piled up nicely. The room we stayed in had the biggest bed I've ever slept in! Even when I flung my leg over the bed... It was still on the bed!
She was so quick to reply as I messaged at 5, she replied by 6 and I was in Brighton by 8! She managed everything seamlessly.
I certainly recommend staying here. Especially as it's so close to the beach and about a 10min walk to the pier! :-)
Maxine's place is a quirky little flat slap bang in between Brighton and Hove so it's location was perfect for two Londoners to spend the weekend there and enjoy what Brighton and Hove have to offer.
The apartment and room were perfectly nice for basic accommodation; clean, tidy and warm with some quirky and fun ornaments around. We only stayed one night and didn't really use any of the facilities like shower etc but it all looked fine.
We didn't get to meet Maxine herself but she left a nice postcard with all the instructions we needed. Another guest was staying but we didn't cross paths.
I would definitely stay at Maxines again.
This is a great place to stay and both the room and the flat are lovely. Maxine is a great host and made us very welcome.
Although we did not meet Maxine, we did get to spend two nights in her wonderful flat which was cosy and full of charm, just a few minutes walk from the parts of town we wanted (and with plenty of decent places to eat and drink within a minute or two). Communication was great with quick replies to emails before we got there, and speedy replies to texts while we were around. We will definitely stay with Maxx again next time we're in Brighton. Thanks!
Great place to stay right in the middle of Brighton. Maxine left everything for us that we needed. Would definitely stay again!
Maxine was an excellent host! Her basement flat was cozy, clean, and peaceful in the evenings. The location was great: close to the sea, near the high street, and easily walkable to just about anything in Brighton.
This was my first time using Airbnb, so I'm grateful it was with a host as accommodating as Maxine. Thanks again for helping make my stay in Brighton wonderful!
L'appartement est très bien situé ,la chambre est très confortable ,Brighton est une superbe ville très sympa.
Seul bémol est de n'avoir pas rencontré Maxine.
The place was located in a nice area close to the high street. Since it was not on the main road it was peaceful at night. We did not meet Maxine, but we were easily able to access the house with her precise directions. The room was not the one shown in the pictures (which looked better) but since we were only staying the night we did not mind. The room was basic, the style very dated. It had a small TV and facilities for making tea/coffee. The waterfront is close, although it is a bit of a walk to the Pier .There are very nice eateries a few streets away.
Very stylish decoration and very kind, accommodating host
