We love the area and its culture! There is lot more to experience beside the National Park! We created a list of things to see for our guest and put it on a website called "Lost Coyote Net." The cabin and the area is unique and wonderful and we want you to have a great experience when you visit. Please don't hesitate to ask any question weather your staying at Lost Coyote Cabin or someplace else!
Please treat the cabin has you would your own home away from home. I ask you leave the house in the same condition you found it. Say hello and wave to cars and people hiking you might encounter. Really nice well looked after cabin. Great homely feeling, very welcoming. The info we were sent before the trip really helped us plan a fun time. The cabin is well within driving distance of the park and main attractions as well as being close to many restaurants and bars. I would defiantly recommend this place if you're visiting Joshua tree.
Darryl is very communicative and everything was as described and he generously sent us an email with a comprehensive list of must do excursions. Cabin is cozy and filled with charming and eccentric items.... perfect embodiment of the desert ethos. Great place for a casual stay in Yucca Valley / Joshua Tree for friends or family. A/C worked great and fire pit is awesome .
We had a great time. The house was very nice and clean and everything we could have needed and more!
Lost Coyote Cabin was the perfect place to stay for a weekend in the desert. We chose it because it seemed to have cozy charm and was close to Pappy and Harriet's for a show, but got so much more. It was close to town and groceries, but also up a dirt road and backed up to hills and hiking - it felt semi secluded, but close enough to any amenities needed. Darryl has made the place feel like home with all the charm and quirk you could ask for in a desert retreat. The kitchen and bathroom were well stocked, bedrooms clean and comfy and there was plenty of wood for the fire pit. The evenings were perfect for stargazing! Darryl also puts together a great list of things to do and see, and was always available for questions via text or email. All in all - a fantastic host and place to stay - would definitely recommend!
If I learned one thing over the weekend - it was the difference between a wash and a dirt road... don't go down the wash :-)
What a wonderful cabin. It was exactly as described and so relaxing and peaceful. I would definitely stay there again. Darryl was a gracious host who made sure I got there safely and was available anytime for questions. There are fantastic hiking trails behind the property and you're very close to Joshua Tree if you feel like hiking in the park. Beautiful sunsets and sunrises and stars. What more can you ask for?
The cabin is a really great, cozy experience. It has the ideal mix of being close to necessities and activities while also being set off from town. Darryl is a very accommodating host. The cabin has everything you'd need to cook and more. He also is very knowledgeable about the area and sends you an informative email about things to do and places to see. I thoroughly enjoyed my experience and would return.
Great place to stay. It served a our home base while we did a few days of hiking in Joshua Tree.
The cabin is located on the side of the valley, so we enjoyed the views every morning and evening. The roads to get there are dirt and apparently GPS (Garmin?) can take you to the wrong place. Google Maps was able to get us within 100 feet of the front door.
The interior of the cabin is clean, and the amenities listed provided more than enough comfort.
About the Host, Darryl
We bought a cabin so we could easily go hiking and rock climbing in Joshua Tree National Park. We have since fallen in love with the art, fashion and music scene happening all around the area. This desert is beautifully surreal and draws millions of people form all over the world every year to visit. We strive to have our cabin be a added bonus to the explorers who seek more than just shelter. It seems like a waste not to share what we have discovered!
