The building is from 1904 and is refurbished entirely in 2008 maintaining it's original wooden structure and flooring; therefore the building is not sound proof, so please regard your noise level and respect regular hours, for late night partying downtown Valparaiso offers many options.
From Dec 29, 2015 - Jan 02, 2016 the minimum stay is 3 nights.
The apartment is wonderful. Staying here makes one feel like a real porteños with a wonderful view of the ocean.
Super dreamy experience staying at Bart's place in Valpo. We had everything we needed and Bart was super accommodating. The rooms are clean, comfortable and the patio is perfection. Bring your waking shoes the hills are no joke !
Bart was an incredibly responsive host, which helped us hurdle some unforeseen scheduling and transportation issues on the front end. He greeted us with a smile, a map, and a bottle of wine. The place was lovely and the view from the balcony was top-notch. The dishes and the bathroom could’ve been cleaner, and there were a few items we couldn't find (like coffee filters), but on the whole we were quite happy with the place and wouldn't hesitate to stay with Bart again.
Glad to help out with late night transport service so you could make it here even if it was just for a couple of nights. All our apartments have a high end espresso / cappuccino maker in the kitchen (and some ground coffee as house courtesy), no coffee filters needed..
Bart was a great host; generous, responsive, and very helpful with useful information to make the most of our short stay (3 nights) in Valpo. The apartment was as advertised and Bart offered one of the Eco Units, too, but we decided we liked the charm of the old apartment. It was perfect for me, my wife, and our two daughters. Overall great experience.
Our stay at Bart's place was amazing. He was very responsive to all of our questions before and during our stay, and he was there to meet us on arrival (with the token bottle of Chilean red wine!) The apartment was just as pictured and it had tons of maps and guidebooks to help us find our way in Valparaiso. Bart was out of town for most of our month-long stay in the apartment, but his brother took great care of us. When we had plumbing problems or minor issues with the stove he immediately called a repairman to come and fix the problem the same day. We even had a cleaning woman come once a week! The internet is high speed, works all of the time, amenities are great, and the view is unbeatable. Bart's brother called us a taxi to drive us to the bus station on the last day and made sure we were all set to go. We had a great month in Valpo and would definitely recommend this place.
Couldn't say enough good things about this visit. Photos and description of the home are accurate. The location is perfect for a view of the city. We enjoyed the private garden entrance and the character of the building. This apartment was exactly what we were looking for, and really enjoyed staying there. Bart was a great host. He gave us great advice on what to see, where to go, and how to get there. The kitchen was useful, and espresso machine was great. The central heat was great when the temperature dropped at night. The neighborhood was quaint and offers a number of restaurants, markets, and cafes. The apartment is reached by walking uphill and taking a flight of stairs, or by taking the funicular and walking up a hill, then down the stairs. This was not all that difficult, but it would be challenge for someone that isn't very mobile.
We also had a chance to tour the ecco duplex apartments. They offer outstanding views, are nicely decorated and would be wonderful places to stay.
Bottom line, we loved it in Valparaiso, and this apartment was great. Bart and his wife are great hosts. Couldn't ask for any better.
Very good communication and smooth check in, aided by a reliable private transfer that Bart had arranged. Great little apartment with a super view. Very comfortable beds!
