The Travellers House is our home. It is a hostel / home for travellers, backpackers and anyone who is travel minded. The hostel enviroment may not suit all airnbnb users, but as we live with, and interact all guests in person, it may just suit you!!
Dolce Vita Derry is home to Steve and Kylie who have run Derry Independent Hostel for the last 18 years. Dolce Vita is our home but could also be referred to as the private room wing of the hostel. City centre location, free parking and a garden.
The garden room overlooks a quiet pretty garden. It has a double bed and the room is fitted out with sliderobe mirrored wardrobes. The room is located 2 metres from the nearest bathroom. The wifi reception is excellent and of course free
Each guest is given a room key and front door key and can come and go as you please. the kitchen is open 24 hours for guest use and free tea and coffee.
Breakfast of cereals , yoghurt, eggs (you cook), home made bread , jams, tea coffee, included in the price.
Scottish Steve and Kiwi Kylie live in the house and One of us are sure to welcome you and give you a rundown on the best restaurants , pubs, best things to see and do in the city. We are avid travellers and like nothing better than to sit down with a glass of wine talking to other travellers.
We have recently had quite a few guests staying with us who use airbnb who found Dolce Vita to be pretty much in spirit with the airbnb (website hidden) affordable accommodation and hospitality offered from one traveller to another. We just happen to have been doing that much longer than airbnb has been around, 18 years in fact. Dolce Vita has 6 private rooms , 3 shared bathrooms and a great shared common space and kitchen. There are no dormitories or ensuite rooms. That kind of makes us NOT a hostel and NOT a bed and breakfast. There is a definite emphasis on sharing and interaction with other guests. If this appeals to you, then give us a try.
We live in a quiet street, but we are very much in the city centre. We are the best located airbnb property in Derry City. We are 5 minutes walk to the city walls and Bogside murals, and only 2 minutes walk to a tescos supermarket and all of the citys best pubs and restaurants. Guests are encouraged to make use of our sunny garden and especially welcome if they see fit to bring their own sunshine.
We are so centrally located that you will walk everywhere.
We have a tv room and a beautiful open plan kitchen , with a large oak table which runs onto a small conservatory area and out into a quiet and peaceful garden
The house is non smoking.. people smoke in the garden. Our latest check in is 10pm.
due to some changes Stevens house turn into the hostel, which was not indicated in the description yet. We booked the room with the instant booking option. However, Steven clarified this immediately and offered to cancel the booking free of charge. We kept the booking and Steven was giving a lot of hints what to do. If you are searching for a hostel close to city centre, I can recommend Dolce Vita. Parking was free of charge at the street in front of the house
Très bon accueil, Steven a su nous faire partager son enthousiasme pour cette ville. Endroit agréable, proche du centre ville, propre.
Steven was a nice host who tries to get in contact to to guests. we liked staying in this place which in in the middle of the city.
Great private room in a community setting. Steve was responsive and welcoming, offering a glass of wine in the evening and a cup of coffee in the morning.
The room was large and clean. The bed comfortable. The bathroom was close and clean as well, albeit not en suite (but it wasn't advertisted to be).
Steve offered great advice on visiting Derry, as well as good conversation as the US nearly beat Belgium. Oh, well.
