My cottage is over a 100 years old. It was originally a miners cottage and has seen many renovations and alterations over the years.
It's perfect base to explore the West Coast.
Sit on the deck in the morning sun and stroll on the beach at sunset!
Hear the sound of the ocean as you sleep well in a comfortable bed. There is a King size bed in the main bedroom and two single beds in the 2nd bedroom. There is also a foldout couch in the living area.
Cook for yourself or dine out at one of our many excellent local restaurants. Alternatively, if the mood takes you, go and catch the latest movie at Hokitika's Regent Theatre.
After dark, don't forget to take a quick walk around the corner from the Cottage to check out the Glow Worm Dell.
Our new West Coast Tree Walk and The Wilderness bike trail are must dos.
You can immerse yourself in local history with a historic walk or a tour of the Hokitika Museum.
The cottage kitchen is well equipped, so all you need to do is bring your own food!
Coffee, tea, milk and breakfast cereal are provided.
It's winter in New Zealand now. The cottage is heated with a wonderful wood and coal fire. Because it is self catering you need to be able to light the fire to keep warm.
Hokitika has much to offer whatever your inclination.
You will enjoy your stay at Ann's Cottage.

Interaction with Guests
I usually leave the cottage prepared and send guests instructions on how to get in.
Make sure that you take the time to walk out the gate, across the road and along a few houses to gain access to the beach. It's a wild West Coast beach that is great to walk along.
Also take a walk back to the main highway to see the glowworms after dark.
The only public transport in Hokitika is the Taxi service.
Other Things to Note
Because I don't live onsite I'm happy for you to call me if there is something you need to know about local attractions or can't work out about the cottage.
I prepare the cottage for you and come and clean when you've gone but please leave the cottage clean and tidy when you go.
Just right for our one-night stay in delightful Hokitika. Cottage was welcoming, and convenient. Shortbread scrummy :)
PS Dulcie's Takeaway sells some of the finest fish & chips in NZ - try the blue cod!
Ann's cottage was a perfect one-night stop to break up our drive up the West Coast. The house is simple, has all the supplies you need, including a well-stocked kitchen, and is an easy 3 minute drive from the cute center of town. Ann supplied milk, yogurt and muesli for breakfast, along with delicious homemade shortbread cookies. A special highlight is the fabulous wood burning fire which kept the whole house toasty and cosy. Thanks Ann!
It was so easy to stay here. Everything we needed was provided. The beds were comfy. The fire was set if it required. Milk tea/coffee and homemade shortbread just hit the spot before having look around the beach and town. My party and I would not hesitate to recommend a stay at Annes Cottage.
This is lovely cottage nearby beautiful seaside view, the landlord offer breakfast foods and all living condition for tourist's self catering, everything is perfect and I feel very good.
it's a lovely house;Ann make it feeling warm;easy to find,quiet and clean,close to sea shore ,3 minutes.
Ann's cottage was perfect - just a short walk or drive to town, beach access a block away and walking distance to the glow worm grotto. Hokitika was a cute artsy town and we wish we had stayed longer.
I'm a traveller by nature so I enjoy hosting other travellers.
I like to read, knit and garden but never seem to have the time. I've just rekindled an interest in my family heritage.
I've lived and worked in this area for over 30 years. The wonderful scenery, fresh air and peaceful atmosphere are the things that draw me back. ....And of course there's a little cottage by the sea that I love so much!
I've travelled a lot in Australia as well as a few smaller trips to Britain and Europe.
I've stayed in every type of accommodation from Backpackers, free accommodation exchanges with other people to upmarket hotels and home stays. Airbnb is the way to go in my opinion.
I hope you enjoy my cottage.
