Cute, self contained cottage just a one minute walk to the beach. Easy to locate with room to park offstreet.
Less than 10 minutes walk to supermarket, shops and cafes. One hour drive to Punakaiki and 1.5 hours to Franz Josef.
My cottage is over a 100 years old. It was originally a miners cottage and has seen many renovations and alterations over the years.
It's perfect base to explore the West Coast.
Sit on the deck in the morning sun and stroll on the beach at sunset!
Hear the sound of the ocean as you sleep well in a comfortable bed. There is a King size bed in the main bedroom and two single beds in the 2nd bedroom. There is also a foldout couch in the living area.
Cook for yourself or dine out at one of our many excellent local restaurants. Alternatively, if the mood takes you, go and catch the latest movie at Hokitika's Regent Theatre.
After dark, don't forget to take a quick walk around the corner from the Cottage to check out the Glow Worm Dell.
Our new West Coast Tree Walk and The Wilderness bike trail are must dos.
You can immerse yourself in local history with a historic walk or a tour of the Hokitika Museum.
The cottage kitchen is well equipped, so all you need to do is bring your own food!
Coffee, tea, milk and breakfast cereal are provided.
It's winter in New Zealand now. The cottage is heated with a wonderful wood and coal fire. Because it is self catering you need to be able to light the fire to keep warm.
Hokitika has much to offer whatever your inclination.
You will enjoy your stay at Ann's Cottage.
Inclusions and Amenities:
Interaction with Guests
I usually leave the cottage prepared and send guests instructions on how to get in.
Make sure that you take the time to walk out the gate, across the road and along a few houses to gain access to the beach. It's a wild West Coast beach that is great to walk along.
The only public transport in Hokitika is the Taxi service.
Other Things to Note
Because I don't live onsite I'm happy for you to call me if there is something you need to know about local attractions or can't work out about the cottage.
I prepare the cottage for you and come and clean when you've gone but please leave the cottage clean and tidy when you go.
What a lovely place to stay .this charming home is ideal for any family in a picture perfect setting. We loved it and we would recommend this cottage to any one considering a stay in Hokatika.
Communitations with Ann were good. We did not meet Ann which was not a problem. Location was perfect for being quiet, yet easy walk to beach and town center. Hoki was such a fun stay on our west coast travels. Bed was comfortable. Amenities as described. Stay here!
The cottage by the sea was centrally located and nearby all we wanted to see and do in the area. It is quite small and a little run down but had all that we needed for our stay. The host was very accommodating and helpful to all of our needs.
Anne's cottage was perfect for our (too brief!) stay in Hokitika. Watched a gorgeous sunset and then to the glow worm sell, just a 5 min walk away. What a great evening for our family. The cottage had all we needed. Slept our family of 6 very comfortably. Wish we could've stayed another night, but had to get to Christchurch for our flight!
Ann's Cottage ist sehr hübsch und gemütlich, alles ist da was man braucht. Das Meer ist gleich "um die Ecke". Wir haben unseren Kurzaufenthalt genossen und würden gerne wieder kommen.
I'm a traveller by nature so I enjoy hosting other travellers.
I like to read, knit and garden but never seem to have the time. I've just rekindled an interest in my family heritage.
I've lived and worked in this area for over 30 years. The wonderful scenery, fresh air and peaceful atmosphere are the things that draw me back. ....And of course there's a little cottage by the sea that I love so much!
I've travelled a lot in Australia as well as a few smaller trips to Britain and Europe.
I've stayed in every type of accommodation from Backpackers, free accommodation exchanges with other people to upmarket hotels and home stays. Airbnb is the way to go in my opinion.
I hope you enjoy my cottage.
