The space
Papa's farm is 9 acre open field with a brick home. Enjoy any of the seasonal fruits on the property: fig, blackberry, satsumas, pecans, or garden produce. The property hosts a beautiful view of the stars and Milky Way against the velvet night sky. Guests are welcome to enjoy an evening fire outside, roast hot dogs or marshmallows.

Spurger, Texas, United States

Spurger is a small town in deep Southeast Texas. Papa's farm is my grandparent's homestead, a land that been in the family for 4 generations. The town is a one-caution-light stop that steps back to Mayberry and transports you to a slower pace of life. There are seasonal roadside produce stands and dirt roads aplenty. TKC (Mott Wholesale) in town boasts the largest Case knife display in North America.

Dam B, 12 miles: Martin Dies, Walnut, Chicken House State Parks are great for fishing, Dam B/ Steinhagen Lake. Sandy Creek & Magnolia Ridge Park are run by Corps Of Engineers. Gator hunts are in September. NO SWIMMING!

Woodville, 25 miles: Dogwood Hills Country Club & Golf Course. Heritage Village Museum & Pickett House Restaurant is a local favorite. The Alabama-Coushatta Tribe Of Texas is only 31 miles away and offers the exciting Naskila Gaming Facility!

Colmesneil, 30 miles: Lake Tejas is a popular swimming hole for locals.

Village Mills, 30 miles: The Big Thicket Visitor’s Center is a great starting point for many of the local, outdoor activities. The beautiful Wildwood Resort 18 hole golf course & Lake Kimble with a wonderful swimming area, play ground, and great for tubing, knee boarding, and jet skiing.

Kountze, 40 miles: County Seat Music Hall has a picking & grinning the 1st, 3rd, & 5th Saturdays of the month. FREE

Hemphill, 100 miles: The site of the Space Shuttle Columbia & official NASA memorial and museum, very affordable.

Guests are only 80 miles from George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston, and 48 miles from Jack Brooks Regional Airport in Beaumont. Also within an hour’s drive is the beautiful Shangri La Botanical Gardens, Gator Country, and Lutcher Theatre! You may want to plan to extend your stay with us so that you don’t miss a thing!
