The Space

This is a bright and sunny bedroom suite with separate bathroom on the 3rd floor of my large family home in Old Greenwich, Connecticut.

The room has double bed with television set/cable/dvd player and a sitting area. The bathroom has a tub and shower. If the adjoining room is rented, you may find yourself sharing the bathroom. I strive to confine this circumstance to guests of the same gender but it is not always possible. Use of the washer/dryer is confined to guests staying 3 or more days.

On the second floor there is a small table where guests can look out over the front garden, eat, read or have their morning coffee and tea which are provided. A small fridge is located here for your use. Meals are not included. You are welcome to prepare simple meals in our kitchen.

It is a very short walk from the house to the train to New York City, Greenwich and Stamford.

Downtown Old Greenwich is one block away with charming shops, cafes, restaurants, pubs, a post office and a supermarket. A bike is available for riding to the beach 1 mile from the house. This is a wonderful community and a great place to stay while visiting the New York metropolitan area or southern New England.

There is street parking but a car is not essential in this area.

Note to allergy sufferers; our home has a dog. To preserve the peace with our canine we do not accept pets as visitors. Please do not ask. We do not accommodate smokers.

  • I always enjoy my stay in this wonderful home that has lots of character and great hosts. I feel at home the minute I walk in the door. I work in New York, and the location has been very convenient - an easy drive or train ride. I would definitely stay here again!

  • The cheery retreat is just that. A pretty room in a lovely home in a great neighborhood. Stores, restaurants, and coffee shops are all within walking distance - as is the train station. It's an ideal location for anyone visiting the NYC metropolitan area.

  • This is a lovely home, charmingly decorated and very comfortable. The hosts are very helpful and hospitable. I felt at home right away, which was great, as I was in the area for business. I didn't want to have to think about the place where I was staying. This was a no-hassle arrangement and I was very grateful for it.

  • This is the third time I've stayed at Christine's home. I always enjoy it. The home is tastefully furnished. The rooms are cheerful. The neighborhood is inviting. Christine has done a great job of communicating expectations for visitors.

  • Christine's home was clean and comfortable and centrally located to where I needed to go. Easy to walk to town, train, and enjoy surroundings. Jim her husband, and their son were hospitable and helped me while Christine was away. It's a first choice for future stays.

  • Christine communicated well before and during my stay. In addition she is friendly with interesting travel stories. Her place is clean and comfortable located an easy walk from the Old Greenwich train station. The neighborhood is walkable close to a supermarket and local shops and there is a lovely beach nearby. Finally, I enjoyed being greeted by the family's sweet dog Dylan.

  • We had a wonderful time at Christine`s house - unfortunately we didn`t meet her but her husband and sons were really kind and made us feel at home immediately. The room was spacious, beautiful and perfectly clean. We would come back anytime.

  • We had a pleasant time staying at Christine´s home. While Christine was out of the town, her husband and son were excellent hosts. We had two separate rooms on the third floor. The rooms were very comfortable and clean. Location is perfect: only 5 minutes walk to the railway station Old Greenwich (and 55 minutes to New York by train). The family dog is very friendly and charming!

About
I am a writer, blogger and a published author of aviation-related books, a married woman in her mid fifties. I have four grown children. I live in Connecticut and travel about 6 months out of the year for work, usually on my own. My first time using airbandb was in Abu Dhabi in 2011. It was a great experience. Since then I've used airbnb about 40 times as a guest all over the world. I enjoyed it so much that in 2012 I became an airbnb host at my home in a New York city suburb and also at 2 Berkshire Mountain vacation properties in Litchfield County, Connecticut. When people "get it" that this is a home stay, not a hotel, the experience can be fantastic. I have met some amazing people and stayed in some amazing homes. I am airbnb's biggest fan.
