The space
The cabin has a large, open living area with a bedroom in the back on each side. Each bedroom has its own full bathroom with a tub and shower. The screened-in porch is almost as large as the living area and provides winter mountain views and a shady summer retreat. You can cook your own meals in our well-stocked kitchen and eat at our kitchen counter bar or large dining table. Outside, you have private access to Ragged Run, a pristine flowing creek with a private swimming hole and a few seating areas that great for conversation, reflection, or your beverage of choice. Most guests cap off their day with a soak in our hot tub or a fire in the fire pit.

ABOUT WI-FI INTERNET, CELL PHONE SERVICE AND TV
We have Starlink Wi-Fi Internet, with average speeds of 30–200 Mbps ↓ and 10–35 Mbps ↑. It is good enough for streaming and Zoom and other video conferencing, although speeds can be sporadic at times.

There is very limited cellular service in this part of the Shenandoah Valley. We do not have a landline, but you can make phone calls at the cabin by enabling Wi-Fi calling on your cell phone before your trip. This is a free feature that most modern cell phones offer.

We have YouTube TV.

TRASH POLICY
Please note ahead of time that **there's no trash service at the cabin, so we ask you to take all trash with you upon departure.** The check-out instructions in the guest binder at the cabin provide a few nearby locations to take your garbage and recycling. One of them is right on your way home if you're headed to DC/Northern Virginia. Thanks for your help with this!

Guest access
You have access to the entire cabin and surrounding 5 acres except the owner storage areas.

Other things to note
The last mile to get to the cabin is on a gravel road with a few short but steep sections. Your regular car can make it, though a few guests have preferred to bring 4-wheel drive vehicles.

Please note that **there's no trash service at the cabin, so we ask you to take all trash with you upon departure.** The check-out instructions in the guest binder at the cabin provide a few nearby locations to take your garbage and recycling.

Neighborhood highlights

Our cabin is in the shadow of Old Rag Mountain, the most popular hike in Shenandoah National Park. It's a quick drive to the trailhead from our place. We're also a short drive from another fantastic but lesser-known hike: White Oak Canyon. And we're just a three-mile drive from DuCard Vineyards, which makes hyperlocal wines and has great musical entertainment on Saturdays. The nearby local institution, The Little Country Store, in Etlan can hook you up with pizza -- and BBQ if you're there the right day.

My husband and I are avid trail runners who love running up and down the mountains of Virginia (and wherever we travel). We fell hard for this cabin property after our friends purchased it and hosted many a post-run feast. We were delighted to be able to buy the cabin from them and are excited to continue making memories on Old Rag with our friends and young son. We're sharing the property with you in the hope that you'll create unforgettable memories of Shenandoah during your stay, too!
