About this listing
A cosy double room in an old refurbished building above a cafe, at the heart of West-Cork. Located on the Wild Atlantic Way route (N71) right beside O`Donovans Leap where the expression " Beyond the Leap Beyond the Law" comes from!
The room is small but comfortable with its own tea/coffee making facilities and TV. The bathroom is shared with 2 other rooms, ( dont worry there are locks!) Breakfast is served in the cafe below at 5.50 euro per person from 9.00 am. till 11.00 pm. so no having to get up early here!!!! There is ample free parking. Ideally situated to discover all of the best things that West-Cork has on offer.
We have free WIFI at the cafe below, due to the thick walls we can not guarantee a good connection in the room itself. Washing machine, dryer and iron are available at an extra nominal fee. There is ample free parking and storage for bikes.
Interaction with Guests
While I try to be there most of the time to welcome you myself, this is not always possible. However, there is always a trusted someone here to welcome you from 9 in the morning till 11 at night to show you to your room and answer any questions you may have about the local area. We offer as much privacy or interaction that you are comfortable with.
We are ideally situated to discover all the best West- Cork has to offer. Walking distance from the picturesque villages of Union Hall and Glandore and close to Rosscarberry, Skibbereen and Clonakilty. While you are here I would definitely recommend a whale watching trip, a night time kayak and a visit to Droum Beg stone circle as well as a walk along one of our many beautiful beaches, a trip to Skibbereen market where many of our award winning food producers have a stall and keep an eye on the music scene ( unfortunately, our own well known music venue Connolly`s of Leap is closed due to renovation but will keep you updated,) De Barras in Clonakilty is a great alternative. Kids and adults alike would love to experience the fairy woods at Rineen. If you are into walking, cycling, kayaking, sailing or just driving around looking at the scenery Leap is the place.
We are on the N71 which makes us very easy to find, approx 1 hour drive from the airport. We are also on the main bus route from Cork ( timetables vary according to season).
Other Things to Note
Leap has 3 pubs, two of which serve food, 2 eateries, a brick a brack shop and a shop/petrol station all less than 10 minutes walk away. A bit further but still within walking distance there is an award winning life style shop, another brick a brack store and various other eateries and pubs.
Not too many rules around here! In order for everyone to be able to have a good time, please do not smoke in the building, remove all your stuff from the room by noon on check out day and respect everyone you come accross.
We arrived quite late as it was on our route to the West coast. We were actually allocated a bigger room with private bathroom which we were very happy about. Ger was very friendly and we had a little chat in the morning whilst we had breakfast downstairs in the cafe. The only thing we were not aware of was that there was a noise from the restaurant's fan which stopped at midnight when the cafe closed. Apart from this we hardly heard any outside noise considering how close we were to the road. It's a great stop after a long journey! Thanks Ger!
If you are on the wild atlantic way, you can stop in leap. It s a confortable and quiet place to sleep for a very good price. You can have a good homemade soup.
Great room. Great little town. Great (cheap) little restaurant below. The host is not super talkative, but Craig, the lad who lives there, is fantastic for conversation!
Leap is one of my favorite stops made in Ireland. Great little room, much nicer than the pictures showed. Beds were super comfy with nice linens. Bathroom was good. They had wifi but it was tricky to connect to had to have the computer by the window. Was unclear if breakfast was provided at the takeout cafe and it wasn't really offered in the morning so just left.
