Great location
100% of recent guests gave the location a 5-star rating.
The house has an amazing view onto Oldshoremore Beach, which is just a few minutes walking distance away. It is a very calm area with more sheep and rabbits than human beings and is known for hiking and biking. The walking way to Sandwood Bay and Cape Wrath runs by the house, and it is as well a worthwhile detour from the North Coast 500 road. The house is fully equiped and offers a cozy atmosphere for hikers, taravellers and anyone who want's to retreat into scotland's wild beauty.

The space
Our house offers enough space for families or groups with up to 10 people. The lower floor has two private rooms and two bathrooms, like in a normal family home. The second floor has a spacious open and bright room with a roof window to the west opening the view down to the Beach. The kitchen and one of the bathrooms have been renovated and transformed to an up to date standard. The living room offers a view onto Oldshoremore Bay that never ceases to fill me with awe and gratitude. The house is part of a croft on which we are starting a permaculture project, growing our own veggies, and the lawn in front of the house invites to sit in a chair and enjoy the view; if the weather permits. ;)

Guest access
If you come to visit you may feel at home with access to all the spaces. The living room with a fireplace, the kitchen with all you need to create a meal, both bathrooms -one with a bathtub, the porch and the whole croft going down to the beach road. You can use the washing machine for a contribution. There is enough space for up to 3 cars behind the house or a big campervan.

Other things to note
My wife is from Costa Rica and a talented vegetarian and vegan cook and offers breakfast, lunch/pick nick lunch and dinner for an adequate contribution.
She also studied and practises for 10 years as massage therapist and offers Reflexiology-, Shiatsu-, Craniosacral-, Tuina-, Deep Tissue- and Lymphatic Drainage-Therapies.
In combination with the little Sauna that is to be realized soon you can
pamper your aching bones after long hikes.

I have been part of many places arround this globe, and our house in Oldshoremore remains one of my favourite spots. The rough windbeaten landscape and the powerful presence of nature and its elements is what draws me back home. We live in a settling of about 15 houses looking down onto Oldshoremore Bay. The neighbours are friendly and always open for polite chat about the weather.
As meditation practioners in Thich Nhat Hanh's Zen Tradition my wife and I enjoy the calm and withdrawn location so close to the Sea. Now we are starting to work the land and transforming the croft into a more selfsustained place. We enjoy to socialize with friends from Kinlochbervie and surrounding, some of them knowing my family since the house was build and feel blessed to be able to live in such a way.

My wife is from Costa Rica and I am from Germany. I have been traveling for seven years, being accompanied by my wife for the last two ones. We are blessed with this house and a croft, that has been in my family since the 70's, to run an AirBnB and work the land. Both steadily growing in self-sustainability. Already as a child my wife Alexa did learn from her grandparents and other healers about plant medicines, studied as a conventional and holistic nurse, specialized on massage therapies and worked for over ten years in a Costa Rican Eco Lodge and healing center. Her passion is cooking vegetarian and vegan dishes. Before I started traveling I studied Biology and worked as a Research Scientist in the pharma industry. My travels changed my way of living completely, working with Argentinian Gauchos driving horses, guiding divers in Sumatra as a Dive Master, living with indigenous tribes in Peru, Ecuador and Colombia - and most influential - living in a Zen Buddhist monastery for half a year. I am totally stoked about working the land and taking care of the house, increasing the yield through permacultural techniques and improving the efficiency of our energy management. During our travels we found out, that the most valuable aspect when staying at a place, was the feeling of being at home and at ease. Not needing to change the way we are and being at ease without the need to please the hosts. That is what we want to offer to our guests. The space to feel at home, like staying with some well known friends, minding your own business and having your privacy or enjoying a joyful conversation at dinner or breakfast together.

During your stay
My wife and I live in the house inhabiting one room and are present most of the time, though we will spend most of it in the garden. We both practise meditation and lead a calm life and are happy to switch to invisible mode and give you the space you need. On the other hand we are there anytime you need somethig and love to share conversations and a good laugh rather as friends than as hosts.
