My family - comprising of my husband, 4-year-old twins and a 2-year-old - had the privilege of staying at Malene's beautiful home last week in lovely and friendly Copenhagen.
We were welcomed by a sweet neighbour who passed on the keys, and found the home immaculately clean (they have 2 young and adorable children!), the refrigerator stocked with fresh organic vegetables, fantastic toys for the children, a really well equipped kitchen (I cooked in there daily for our family), and my husband was thrilled to have super fast wifi access so we could check in with work on occasion!
Malene's modern, stylish, comfortable, and clean flat is located on a quiet residential street. The next street over is bustling with a couple produce markets, bicycle shops (some offer rentals), restaurants, gelato cafes, charming Danish furniture and colourful children's clothing shoppes. It is located about a 5 minute walk from the Frederiksberg Centre metro stop, and also on a major bus line. Frederiksberg Centre houses a convenient post office, a major grocery store (Fotex), BR (toy store chain), and plenty of other wearable-stylish Danish clothing and home goods stores.
The building itself has an idyllic inner courtyard where adults and children alike can relax at a picnic table, greet the two pet bunnies, pick a few apples to nibble on, and have the kids play in the colourful playhouse, sandbox, or ride on some of the communal tricycles/scooters. We loved our time spent in the courtyard; the neighbours are all kind and friendly people!
We chose to bike everywhere during our rainy stay (thanks to Malene lending me her bicycle and a sweet neighbor generously offering my husband the use of their family bike). If you are seeking an authentic Copenhagen experience, take advantage of this top notch bike-friendly city! Do keep in mind that they adhere to universal bike turning signals and etiquette... coming from Chicago where we constantly battle for space on the streets against monster SUVs and urban jungle drivers, we were really impressed with the safe paths and the overall "bicycles rule!" attitude.
In all, Malene is a fantastic hostess; she is very prompt as well as helpful in all communication, and very easily accessible via text/SMS. This is definitely a home we would want to stay again in!
Very nice apartment exactly like on the website. Close from subway and buses, 10 mn from the centre. A lot of shops and restaurants around the flat, really nice area, we loved it! We felt at home, thanks Malene!
If you are looking for the perfect host...here she is! Malene helped us with her place on very short notice (all in one day :-)) and gave me and my collegues a lovely stay in Copenhagen! She was always reachable by phone or message and made everything possible. Thank you Malene!!!
